BC: The End
FC: How Metals are Made
All metals are found in the earth, but most are not found in their pure state.
All elements that occur in nature can be divided into metals and non metals. Metals conduct heat and electricity, are hard, deformable, shiny, etc. Copper, gold, silver tin and zinc are all metals.
Alloys are prepared from two or more metals. Copper and tin are mixed to form bronze.
Copper and zinc make up brass, used in many musical instruments.
Alloys are made by heating up each of the solid metals until they form a liquid. This liquid is then mixed and cooled.
Gold, platinum and sometimes copper and silver are found in their pure state. Gold, platinum and sometimes copper and silver are found in their pure states, but most are found as ores.
An ore is a combination of metal and other elements such as oxygen, sulfur and carbon, which are removed by heating the metal, called smelting.
Metal can be very thick and it can be very thin. | The Metal that you use for cooking is usually foil. Foil is metal.
Metal can be found all over the place. You can even find metal in rocks!
Most of the metals we use are not pure of elemental metals; they are alloys.
Metals can be very good. You need metal for a lot of things. You even need metal on the inside of a plane!
Metal can be many differant things. It can be a shipping cart, a laundry basket, a computer, a chair, a bus, ect;.
Lead is very bad. Lead used to be in paint. When the paint would get old it would peel of and become flaky, Children used to put ot on there mouth but now they make the paint without lead.
