FC: Michelle Kornek's Mixbook for English 106

1: In the poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou this is exactly how I pictured her to be. In the picture the woman looks as though she know she is pretty and showcasing herself which is how the author describes herself in the poem.

2: "I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide, Welling and swelling I bear in the tide. Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise"

3: In "The Lady of Shalott" she has to look at everything through her mirror. If she does not, a curse will fall upon her. When she sees Camelot through the mirror it causes her eyes to wander away and look at him.

4: In "Marrying the Hangman" a woman had been sent to death. The only way a woman could get out of a horrible trgedy is by marrying a hangman. There or no hangmen that are single so she needs to convince a man to become one and she will marry him.

5: "How Do I Love Thee?" is a romantical poem about how the author declares how much she loves her significant other.

6: "She walks in beauty" is a poem is describing a woman who, even with her flaws and no matter what the setting is around her, is in describeably beautiful.

7: "La Belle Dame sans Merci " is a poem about a man who falls in love with a woman and he cannot be that she is real and she seems so perfect. But then he ends up waking from a dream to find out that she was not real after all.

8: "When I have fears that I may cease to be" by John Keats is a poem about a man who is afraid about that he won't ever conquer his fears.

9: "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe is a dark poem about a man who lost his loved one. While sorrowing one night a raven appears in his room and taunts him by saying "nevermore." Meaning nevermore is she alive.

10: "The bride hath paced into the hall, Red as a rose is she ; Nodding their heads before her goes The merry minstrelsy. " -The Rime of The Ancient Mariner by Samule Taylor Coleridge

11: "To my dear and loving husband" by Anne Bradstreet is a simple poem about how a wife had an undying love and affection for her husband. She is simply happy to have a love like they do.

12: The rape of the lock by Alexander Pope is about a Roman Catholic who got exiled for his beliefes and he had to teach himself everything. It is a poem about his life.

13: Songs of the Innocence and Experience by William Blake is a serioes of poems that contrast innocence and experience.

14: If you forget me by Pablo Neruda is a poem about how the author is saying that if you forget me, I will forget about you too.

15: Sonnet 116 by William Shakespear is a poem about how love is like nothing else. Love is a character all on it's own.

16: Whitman's "Song of myself" is a poem about his life and how he came to finding out who he truley is. Finding himself.
