1: Style: Cubism -Picasso was known as one of the founders of the Cubist movement - Cubism is breaking images into pieces and reassembling them in an abstract way. -Cubism also shows different viewpoints of an image.

3: Les Demoiselles d"Avignon (1907) -"The Young Ladies of Avignon" - Oil on canvas -Onc of his earliest works of cubism -Depicts five prostitutes glaring at the viewer -Painted during the African-influenced period > the masks are African

5: The Old Guitarist (1903) -Painted during the Blue Period, shortly after the suicide of a close friend, Casagemas -One of the best representations of the melancholy that dominated the Blue Period

7: Guernica (1937) -Depicts the Nazi bombing of Guernica, Spain during the Spanish Civil War -The Spanish government paid Picasso to paint this mural for the Paris International Exposition -Famous for its tragic depiction of the horrors of war

8: Professional Career -Born in the Andulusian region of Spain, but spent much of his time in Barcelona and Paris, France -A painter, sculptor, and draughtsman -Lived during World War I, the Spanish Civil War, and World War II and refused to fight for any side (some called him a coward)

9: -Jointed the French Communist Party in 1944 --Went through 'periods' during his career based on the tone of his works: Blue Period, Rose Period, African-influenced Period, Cubism, Classicalism, and Surrealism -Continued painting and sculpting until his death in 1973
