BC: The author of this poem has risen up from the pain and turmoil that her ancestors have suffered. She has not forgotten where she came from, but she has been able to rise above the people who have tried to pull her down.
FC: Still I Rise is a poem about overcoming hardships and rising up over adversity.
1: A sunrise symbolizes the fact that no matter how long and hard the night may be, the sun will always rise in the morning.
