Once there was a very sad, very lonely elephant. He was so sad he began to cry. big, fat elephant tears.

He had NO friends. He really wanted a friend. He really needed a friend. Someone he could share fun and games with. Someone he could care for and someone who would care for him.

One day, he found a friend! His friend was hippopotamus. All day long the friends played and played. They shared their water toys with each other. They decided to find some more friends to play with.

So they began to search. Wait a minute. Who is this fun person they see having fun all by herself?

They didn't want to scare her. They were VERY big. And she was VERY small.

The elephant said a soft, "Hello!" The little girl looked up. She was surprised and thrilled. This wonderful elephant and his friend were talking to HER! "Would you like to play with me?" she asked. "Oh, yes," said the elephant. "Wait here," she said. "I'm going to get my friend".

The little girl found her friend. "You won't believe who wants to play with us!" she said. "Come with me and we can play with the zoo animals all day."

It was LOVE at first sight! Both girls were thrilled with the zoo animals. And the zoo animals were were thrilled with the two little girls.

Now the animals and the little girls had to decide what might be fun to do. So they all got together and started to talk about what to do.

"What can we do first?" they wondered.

"Let's play," said a monkey. "Play tag!" said a giraffe.

 "Tag, you're it," said a penguin. "A zebra's 'it'!"

"Tag, you're it," said a zebra. "A frog is 'it'!"

"That was a LOT of playing," said a tiger. "Let's stop playing," said a baby penguin.

"We've got to go home," said the little girls. "We'll play with you tomorrow!" "I'll get more friends when you come back tomorrow," said the elephant. | "We've got to go home," said the little girls. "We'll play with you tomorrow!"
