BC: to be continued... | Joe and Sarah Baker's Adoption Profile Book

FC: Joe, Sarah & Isaac | O U R S T O R Y

1: Dear Birth Parent(s), Thank you for taking time to review our book. We hope that our book gives you a good feel for who we are and the daily lives we live. Here's a little about us: We (Joe and Sarah) married in May of 2008 in a small private ceremony and became a blended family of 3. Sarah has a biological son from her first marriage. His name is Isaac and is 10.5 years old. Isaac was included in every aspect of the wedding, as it was not just us getting married. Joe recognized that and instantly became a second father to Isaac, but has always been careful to not overstep his role since Isaac's dad is very much involved in his life and ours. We remain very close with Isaac's dad, Greg. Greg is also remarried to a wonderful lady, Stacy and they recently had their first child together, Molly. We often celebrate holidays together and get together just because. It may seem strange to some that we have all remained so close, as divorce often ends ugly, but we pride our friendship and respect each other as parents. To us it shows how open we are and how we can make any situation work. Isaac is a bright child, full of energy, insight, desire for knowledge and talent. Isaac excels in school, getting mostly straight A's every quarter. We encourage him to try new things and he has enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and next up is football. He also is very artistically and musically talented. He has taken piano lessons and loves to play our family piano daily. He is currently enrolled in a program called Silver Strings, which is a children's orchestra full of Violins, Violas, Cellos and Bass. He loves every second of playing violin. We knew from the beginning of our blossoming relationship, that having a child together naturally may not be possible. Once we were married, we decided to start trying anyhow... knowing it would be a slim chance. After many doctor consultations and finding new challenges in our infertility we began researching adoption. We felt a strong pull toward adoption as if it were part of God's plan for us. We never attempted any of the fertility treatments available, as not only are we not good candidates, but we felt it wasn't in the stars to push the issue for a biological child, when we could love any child brought into our lives. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share a little of our life with you. We hope you find this book helpful in your decision. - With Love, Sarah, Joe and Isaac

6: H O W W E M E T | We met in April of 2006, but did not become close friends until the summer when we realized we shared a passion for photography. Unknowingly at first, we were members of the same camera club. We often went on photo hikes together, as Joe wanted to learn more about photography from Sarah. Our friendship quickly grew into love. | While dating, most of our "dates" were day trips to different areas in Ohio and Kentucky for us to experience nature and photography and spend time talking about life and dreams. Isaac instantly connected with Joe and they became the best of friends. Joe was very considerate to Isaac and potential blossomed. | THE EARLY YEARS

7: FAMILY TIME | As you guessed, we still spend a great deal of our family time outdoors. We love going to our family farm to ride 4wheelers, play paintball, hike the land, photograph the nature and wildlife or just sit around the camp fire and grill out lunch or dinner. We also enjoy snuggling up in the family room or in our king size bed to watch a movie together. | Family time wouldn't be complete without a few vacations! Whether we are taking a long weekend road trip to somewhere nearby to see something new or heading to the Caribbean on a family friendly cruise, one thing remains constant, there is always fun for everyone! In 2011 we had our first trip to Disney World! Sarah found it to be just as magical as Isaac! | VACATIONS

8: Hocking Hills, Ohio | Married May 16, 2008

9: We believe strongly in education. Education comes in many forms. Not only is formal education a necessary part of today's work force, but so is the education you can only get from living life. We believe in exposure to many different arts, history and sciences with hands on approach. We believe in open conversation with children to teach them about things they don't understand. As a child often feels misunderstood, we like to parent with the idea that we are in their corner so they can feel safe to ask questions. Joe has a Masters Degree in Network and Communications Management. He works for a global IT company at the US headquarters office in Dayton, OH. He is a Network Engineer and provides for our family financially while still maintaining normal 9-5 work hours, so there is plenty of time with him home in the evenings and weekends. His company provides him with wonderful benefits and ample time off for vacation and personal time. He loves the work he does and often comments how he can't believe he actually gets paid to do the work he does because he enjoys it so much! Sarah has an Associate Degree in Photography and is almost done with her Bachelor Degree in Business and Marketing. She works part time for a small home services company as the Marketing Manager. She also runs a small side business photographing families, children and weddings occasionally. Joe is also an avid photographer and this is a hobby and side business they enjoy doing together. Sarah has worked in the marketing field for many years and left a much larger role at a national company in order to have more family time. She currently works one half day a week at the office and the rest of her work is done from home with her position. This allows her to be very involved in Isaac's activities and for her to volunteer for school functions. She was the PTA president for 2 years in a row and this school year she was the chair person for the school yearbook. Sarah works hard to advocate for Isaac and his education, and with her flexible work schedule, she is excited to be able to be practically a stay at home mom to the baby we bring into our home soon! | EDUCATION

12: It has been such an exciting process for us to move into our new home and start preparing for our future. Part of those preparations have been repainting and decorating one of our spare bedrooms to convert it to a nursery that can accommodate a boy or girl immediately. We can always add fun gender specific accents later. :-)

23: Baker | The Baker Family Farm has been in the family for many generations. It is close to our home and has over 100 acres for us to enjoy. Sometimes getting away from town is just what is needed for a weekend of camping, a day of 4wheeling or an evening of roasting marshmallows on the camp fire! | .............................................. | Family Farm | Isaac, ready to ride! | Joe, getting one of the 4wheelers out of the barn

24: We LOVE family time. Joe enjoys coming home from work to be showered with hugs and "we missed you". Sarah loves to cook... and is happy that Joe loves to eat! Our typical week day is spent with Sarah at home working from her laptop or doing the normal chores or running errands, while Joe is at the office and Isaac is at school. After picking up Isaac from school we focus on homework to try to get it completed before Joe gets home so we can enjoy dinner and then spend time either playing outside, taking a walk or bike ride or snuggling up on the couch to watch one of our favorite shows or a movie. We finish almost every day with about 30 min to an hour of reading together. Whether it's a mystery novel that Isaac has picked or a few bible stories, we always enjoy reading time. Weekends we spend a lot of time at our family farm where we do things like hike, ride 4-wheelers, play paintball, or just cook out and have a bonfire. We all enjoy photography and love to go on nature walks taking our cameras and collecting photos. We also love to go to Kings Island, the zoo, a local park, museum, play Putt Putt, go to dinner and a movie or whatever strikes us. We also have many weekends where we just stay home and focus on chores while we work on putting our personal stamp on our new home.

29: Thank You again for reviewing our book. We would like to leave you with this... We were recently told by a close friend about a conversation she had with her children about adoption. She told them that "babies don't always grow in mommy's bellies, but can also grow in mommy's and daddy's hearts." We feel like the child meant for us has been growing in our heart for many years and we are now ready to welcome him or her into our lives, our home and our family. We have built a lovely home environment so we can accommodate a growing family. Our house has 4 bedrooms so that child will have his/her own room. The basement is a complete kid zone. Our large yard is equipped with a play set that already includes a toddler swing for our nieces. (as shown in previous pictures) Our neighborhood is family friendly and very active and diverse. We live on a street that dead ends into a wonderful park full of walking paths, ponds and wooded trails. Our school district is the same one Sarah attended all through school and is ranked Excellent with Distinction. (as previously mentioned) If you were to choose our family for your child to be placed with. We can promise to not only love that child, but to protect, nurture, educate, encourage and provide for him/her. Your child will be raised in a Christian home where we believe in family bible study time and learning the stories of the bible, in addition, what it means to be a Christian. It is in our faith that we have found inner strength with our infertility and have relied on God to show us the direction He has intended for us. The things in this book are all things your child would benefit from if you found us to be the direction your heart guides you. We wish you the most success in life and ease in making your decision. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to tell you more about ourselves. We would love to have the chance to meet with you as well. Love and Respect, Sarah & Joe Baker "And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me". - Matthew 18:5
