38: Our Inspiration Third and Fourth Graders loved the book, My Dog is as Smelly as Dirty Socks, by Hanoch Piven. After reading this inventive book, students were eager to write their own similes and create collage illustrations inspired by Mr. Piven's work. We look forward to reading more books by Mr. Piven, especially My Best Friend is as Sharp as a Pencil, which will be published May 11th, 2010.
