FC: Meet Max

Hi, my name is Max and I am 9 years old. I have cerebral palsy, which is a disorder of the central nervous system. This affects my ability to move my muscles. | I am still like any ordinary 9 year old, I just have special accommodations to help me in school everyday. I would like to show you what some of these accommodations look like.

This is my wheelchair; it has a joystick so I can contol direction. My chair helps me move around the hallways and classrooms of my school.

Here is my walker. If I do not want to be in my wheelchair all the time I can use my walker to get around the classroom. I like to decorate my walker with stickers.

This is my suction cup plate. It keeps my plate from moving when I eat lunch. Macaroni and cheese is my favorite food.

This is my Hand Clip. It helps me hold on to my utensils when I eat.

This is my computer. It is special because I can control it with my eyes instead of my hands.

This is called a Sensory Belt. It helps me with my balance. It has weights in it that help to keep my feet flat on the floor. I am hoping that one day it will help enough that I will not need to use my walker.

This is my personal Dynavox. It helps me with my output communication to others around me.

I also have a Delta Talker. It is like a computer keyboard, but just with pictures and words that can be put together to form sentences. It can produce 4,000 sounds, words, and phrases.

This is one of my ankle-foot orthotics that I sometimes use to keep my leg aligned properly where I have poor muscle control.

This is my MiniMo that I can carry or mount on my wheelchair. I use it to record my speech for different items I want or activities I enjoy.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little more about me. Just remember, with special accomodations anyone with disabilities can feel important. Max
