1: Simile A figure of speech which involves a direct comparison between two unlike things, usually with the words like or as. | Metaphor A figure of speech which involves a comparison between two unlike things using a form of "be" without using "like" or "as." A metaphor states that one thing is another.
2: Simile | He moved around the house being as quiet as a mouse.
3: Metaphor | He was a bull in a china closet.
4: Simile | She is as beautiful as an angel.
5: Metaphor | Her beautiful eyes are windows into heaven.
6: Simile | He was built solid like a locomotive.
7: Metaphor | He was a bowl full of gelatin, flabby, and unkempt.
8: Simile | He was as tall as a windmill.
9: Metaphor | He was a little fish in a big ocean.
10: Simile | The tipped pass fluttered around like a lame duck flying overhead.
11: Metaphor | He threw a rocket to the waiting receiver.
