FC: The Mayan Creation Story By Safia Soliman

1: In the beggining of time there were two gods Tepeu the maker and Gucumatzthe feathered spirit. The world arond them was nothing, it had not formed it was dark and black. Tepeu and Gucumatz came together and started to creat the world, whatever they thought of came into being. They created tempels, rivers, seas, mountains, sky, land...

3: They wanted beings, so that they would be able to worship them. So they thought of different types of animals, Deer, Birds, Serpants, Panthers, and all types of other creatures that roam the earth today.The animals tried to speak but the only thing that cmame out of there mouth were noises like:meow, roar, chirp, groan.... It was so deafining that the gods ordered them to stop.

5: Dissapointed, the makers agreed that they would have to make some more beings,beings that could talk, walk, and most importantly praise them. The first race of men were made of wet clay, they tried to speak but they crumbeled to pieces soon after they were made.

7: The second race of men were made from wood, they were much stronger and they could talk and walk. However they had no minds, hearts, memorys. So the gods destroyed them, they thouht of water and it just fell down in one huge puddle and destroyed them, but some got away into the woods and became monkeys.

9: The animals brought stocks of white corn which eventually grew. Then the gods had an idea, so they ground the corn into paste and it formed four men. The men were perfect, they could walk, talk, and mostly they could worship the gods. The gods decided to make four women and they were to to be the mens mates. An so the 8 humans populated the earth naturally and that was it.
