2: Henry "Indiana" Walton Jones, Jr., Ph.D., is a fictional professor of archaeology, adventurer, and the main protagonist of the 1981 adventure film Raiders of the Lost Ark, its prequel (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom), and sequels (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). Jones is notable for his trademark bullwhip, fedora, leather jacket, and fear of snakes. In addition to his film and television appearances, the character has been featured in novels, comics, video games, and other media. He is most famously portrayed by Harrison Ford.

4: Raiders of the Lost Ark was the first movie starring Indiana Jones.

5: The Temple of Doom is a prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark and hit theaters in 1984. The Last Crusade is a sequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark and debuted in 1989.

8: In one of the more famous scenes, Indy has to carefully grab a gold idol off the pedestal.

14: Indiana Jones transcends movies and is found in video games, pinball machines, legos, and muppets among others.
