S: Daniel and Rachel
BC: Trust in the Lord with all your heart . . . And He will direct your path Proverbs 3:5-6
FC: Daniel & Rachel
We are Daniel and Rachel and we want to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. We would like to start by expressing our respect, admiration, and thanks for your courage right now. We can't imagine the feelings you have or will experience in your decision to plan an adoption for your child. We are excited that you would consider us as loving parents and we pray that this book will give you a glimpse of who we are and who we hope to be as parents.
Daniel has light brown hair and blue eyes. His height is 5'11" weighing 160 pounds. He is 32 years old and has a Master's Degree in Accounting. | He has worked as a Certified Public Accountant for ten years and works around 40 hours each week. | Daniel

She has worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for seven years and works around 40 hours a week. Her ultimate goal is to be a stay at home mom to her child. | If she returns to work part time, childcare will be provided by grandparents and church daycare. | Rachel | If she is to return to work part time, childcare will be provided by grandparents and church daycare.
It's hard to put all that Daniel is into words. I barely remember life before him and couldn't imagine life without him. Daniel is one of the smartest people I know. He can remember so much! He is very handy and can build and fix anything. One of the things that draws people to him is his quick wit and humor. He keeps me laughing! Daniel is a godly man. He is so disciplined to spend time with God everyday and pray about what's going on in his life. Children love Daniel (or Dan-Dan as our friend's children call him). He will be a great father because of the way he loves and the knowledge he has to teach a child as they grow. | It is hard to put all Daniel is into words. 5: If I had to define Rachel in one word it would be selfless. I have never known someone so willing to give of themselves like she does. Her service to our church's mercy team and service guild highlights her heart for other people. She is so talented and creative that our friends always ask her to plan and decorate their baby showers. Despite our struggles with infertility, and her personal pain, she is still willing to give of herself to help others. That's how I know she is going to be a wonderful mother. Her personal sacrifice goes largely unnoticed, and sometimes unthanked. Yet despite this, she continues to give of herself. Her life is an example of "love your God with all your heart your soul and your mind and to love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-39). | About Rachel by Daniel | If I had to describe Rachel in one word it would be selfless. 6: Our Church | We attend a Presbyterian Church(PCA) with around 300 members. We live about 2 minutes away and love the people there. We are involved in their ministries with Daniel serving as a deacon and Rachel on the Mercy Team. We love our contemporary service and Sunday School class. They also have a great Children's Ministry!
Our Small Group | The Girls | The Guys | Our faith is very important to us and has truly grown though our small group Bible study. They are both our core group of friends and our support system. We have been so blessed to have these men and women for the past four years. Most have small children and babies who can't wait for a new playmate!
 Daniel & Nana | Daniel's Family | Celeste & Samuel | Daniel & Mom | Daniel, John, & Dad
My parents live less than a minute away from our house. After being a first grade teacher for 31 years, my Mom is ready to have a grandchild to teach. My Dad teaches high school but loves babies and little kids, too. Nana, my maternal grandmother, also lives nearby. I have a 36 year old brother, John, who is married to Celeste. They have Samuel who is 11. I'm very close to my family. I share a hobby of cycling with my brother and I love to spend my Saturday mornings eating breakfast and shopping the home improvement stores with my dad. This is something we both look forward to sharing with a child.
Rachel's Family | Rachel with Mom & Oma | Rachel & Dad | Rachel with Jennifer & PawPaw
I am very close to my family. I'm blessed to have my Mom, Dad, Grandmother, and Grandfather just a few minutes away. My parents do not have grandchildren yet and can't wait to spoil them. My Oma (grandmother in German) is my Dad's mother and PawPaw is my Mom's father. They are both very active and are excited about adding to the family. My 27 year old sister, Jennifer, can't wait to be an aunt. My family loves to vacation together to the beach and spend weekends on the river. I also have ten cousins between my mother's five sisters and one brother. It is one BIG happy family.

We live in a great neighborhood. We are only a couple minutes away from family, church, and elementary school. We have sweet neighbors with lots of kids and very safe and fun environment. There are always people walking and biking around our street. Our house has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a large playroom downstairs.
We have lived in this house for over 4 years. We love to entertain our family and friends on the back porch..grilling and relaxing. | Our Family Room | Back Yard | Warm and Inviting... A big backyard...
Nursery Ideas | Girl | Boy | ...spacious room & playroom ready for fun | Going into the back yard
We met on the first day of 1st grade. Daniel's mom was Rachel's teacher. After a lot of chasing on the playground, Rachel made Daniel her boyfriend. Some of our favorite childhood memories include hunting for salamanders in the woods & playing house in Rachel's play kitchen. We went on our first real date in 1995 and dated through high school. We tried dating other people our first year of college, but started dating exclusively after a short time. College was a fun time for us: learning to live on our own and meeting new people. | 1997 | 1995 | 1985 | we met | started dating | graduated high school | Our Story
2006 | 2003 | 2003 | 2001 | graduated college | married | moved home | 1st house | Daniel proposed the night before Christmas Eve our senior year of college. The wedding was in June of 2003 and was a wonderful day. It was beautiful to see all the people that have known and supported us as we grew up there. It was a perfect day...except after the reception when we were locked out of the house that had our suitcases! After a honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, we moved into an apartment and then to our first house. We moved back to our hometown in 2006 where we live today. We love our life here!
These are our cats, Ava & Charlie. They are five years old and very sweet. They love to cuddle and are not afraid of children. They are the sweetest.. | Pets
Ava | Charlie | Kipper | We also consider Rachel's Mom's dog, Kipper, as part of the family, too.
 Friends and Family
Going Clockwise... Hanging out, dressing up at art class, Rachel at a Heart Walk, Daniel woodworking on a mission trip, Daniel on the boat, Rachel at her painting class, Daniel with his bike, Rachel skiing.
Our Hobbies | Daniel Enjoys woodworking, running, cycling, and hanging out with friends watching football. One of his most memorable woodworking experiences was on a mission trip in Mexico making bookshelves. Rachel Enjoys reading, water sports, scrapbooking, and spending time with friends. She loves to help in her mother's store wrapping presents. She owns a social painting class with her two friends and enjoys helping people have fun creating their art.
Dressing up as Judy Nails from Guitar Hero and Indiana Jones... | Out of all the hobbies & interests we have, our favorite is just being together. We love to go to college football games. Tailgating and going to the game is fun. But most of all, we enjoy the time in the car driving there talking about what's going on in our lives and singing with the radio.
Having Fun | Whether it's watching a movie, making a meal, or just sitting on the porch: we are going to have fun and enjoy each other. We are so excited for the chance to bring a child into our family to share the love that we have for each other.
Our Marriage | Our marriage is faith based and very strong. Because we have known each other for so long, our strengths include good communication and the tendency to know what the other is thinking. We have very distinct roles in our marriage: Rachel does the laundry, Daniel cuts the grass, Rachel keeps the social calendar, Daniel manages the finances. One of the ways we could grow our marriage is to know more about the other's role in the family. We are a great team and work together to make decisions. Our family goal is to raise a child to love God and bring them up in a Christian home as we were.
One of the ways that our faith has grown and our marriage has been strengthened is through infertility. We have tried to conceive for 3 years and Rachel has been diagnosed with endometriosis. We have been very blessed to have our supportive friends and family through this time. Through prayer and guidance from other adoptive parents, we made the decision to begin the adoption process. We were fortunate to be like-minded when we made the decision. We feel it is a privilege to bring a child into our family just as God brings us into His.
Parenting is something we are ready to experience. Rachel works with children and has learned a lot about different parenting styles through her job. We believe that there must be a balance between discipline and fun. We believe that we would have a loving home and would teach our child to be respectful and compassionate to others. | Parenting | Rachel doing speech therapy
Our discipline styles would be age appropriate and we are committed to finding a way to make sure our child knows that we mean what we say and they can trust us. | We both had great models for parenting with our parents and grandparents and believe that our different personalities will make for a great parenting team. | Discipline
sunny days | We will tell our child about their adoption when it is age appropriate. At our church, there are several children who are adopted. Our children's minister works hard to educate all the children about adoption. Also, Rachel's cousin adopted her daughter, Anna, and our families are familiar with talking about it. We will make sure our child knows the love of their parents and their Heavenly Father. | Adoption
spring is here! | Baby Girl | We would describe you to your child in a respectful and loving light because of the choice you are making. We will send updates and pictures of your child as long as you desire and will always respect your privacy.
We are so excited about the possibility of sharing our life with your precious child and hope this book has given you a glimpse of what that life would be like. We want you to know that our home is warm and happy and will always be a place of love and encouragement.
Together, will we always celebrate life . . . and we will always celebrate you. We wish you courage in the days ahead and will pray for the decisions you will make for your child. Thank you for learning more about us. Sincerely, Daniel & Rachel
