S: 2009 Europe Trip (Jun 11 -23)
BC: It was such a successful, fun and memorable trip. We will definitely take another trip to Europe in the future!
FC: 2009 Europe Trip Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Brussels
1: Petti & James Europe Trip Jun 11-23, 2009 | It was our first time to Europe together. We were extremely excited about the adventure to Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and Belgium. We were also carrying a secret mission in this trip. At the end, we were very happy that everything had turned out to be fantastic and unbelievably fabulous!
2: Day 1: Boston to Madrid, Spain. | We departed Boston at 6:20pm on Jun 11 and finally arrived Madrid at 7:20am on Jun 12.
3: Regardless of the tiredness from the overnight flight and the language barrier, we were able to take the subway to the city center and locate our Hotel, the Marlasca Hostel. | Madrid was much hotter than Boston! | Day 2
4: Since we couldn't check-in to the hotel room that early, we decided to walk around the city.
5: After a long nap in the afternoon, we went back to Plaza Mayor for an early dinner.
6: Day 3: Visiting the palace.
7: EXploring Madrid city before we left to Barcelona the following day.
8: We were recommended to go to Cardamomo restaurant to watch the traditional Spanish Flamenco dance. The music and the dance were very explosive. We really enjoyed watching the performance!
9: Day4: Taking Renfe high-spend train to Barcelona.
11: Day 5: We both agreed that taking the tour bus to see Barcelona was the only way to save our feet!
14: Moving from Orleans Hotel to Hotel Del Mar. We were very happy with it.
15: Lunch buffet in a Chinese/Japanese restaurant. It was the best seafood buffet in town!
16: Walking around Ciutat Vella district in the afternoon.
17: Spanish goodies | The symbol of Spain
18: Exploring the Gothic Quarter - the medieval part of the city.
21: Caixa Catalunya designed by Gaudi.
23: It was a long day. We had visited Gaudi's museum and walked a few miles. We went into a Church on the way to the hotel. And I prayed for the successful of our secret mission.
24: Day 6: Visiting Sagrada Familia | Day 6: Sagrada Familia - a church that has been built for more than a century
25: This church has been built for more than a century!
28: Had to try Paella one last time!
29: Day 7: Leaving Barcelona and going to the airport to catch the flight to Paris.
30: Arriving Paris!
31: Notre -Dame
33: Tour Eliffel
34: Enjoying our fondue dinner. Bon appetit!
35: Day 8: Visiting Sacre Coeur in Montmartre district in the morning .
36: Visiting Louver Museum in the afternoon.
38: Having a romantic dinner after a long day. The cheese pie was absolutely yummy!
39: Day 9: Heading to Chateau de Versailles
41: The world famous "Hall of Mirrors".
45: Queen Marie Antoinette's Hamlet
47: Enjoying French cuisine with Alice and Jacopo.
48: Walking along Champs Elysees to Arc de Triomphe.
49: Day 10: Taking THALYS train from Paris to Brussels.
50: After arriving Brussels, we took another train to Tournai to see Jimmy's relatives.
53: We went to see where mama Denise grew up, and we got together with Uncle Rene's family.
54: The famous Belgian beer, fries and mussels!
55: Day 11: Hanging around in Brussels.
58: Happy 1st anniversary! | Jun 21, 2009
59: Day 12-13: Flying from Brussels to Madrid and from Madrid to Boston. In the last flight, we were so lucky that we got upgraded to business class!
