BC: Our vision as a family is to see a world in which all members, including those with Down syndrome, are accepted, valued for their uniqueness, respected for their abilities, and assured the opportunity to create their own path to fulfillment and success.
FC: My Name is Noah By Noah and Lisa Buczek
1: My Name Is Noah. By Noah and Lisa Buczek
2: My name is Noah.
3: And I have Down syndrome.
4: Do you know what that means?
6: Our bodies are made up of tiny little things called cells. Each of our cells have chromosomes. Most people have 46 chromosomes, but I have one extra. I have 47. That's what makes me have Down syndrome.
7: People who have Down syndrome are born with it. It can't be fixed or cured. ...It's just who I am. You don't need to feel bad that I have it or worry. You can't catch it from me like a cold.!
8: Some things about me are the same as you.... I love swimming and running and reading books.
9: I like playing on my swing set.
10: I like going to the zoo and playing in the snow.
11: I like to pretend in the kitchen... | and enjoy the great outdoors.
12: I like basketball, and I'm great at jumping.!
13: I love being with my family and friends.
14: Because I have Down syndrome, there are some things about me that are different than you... I have a hard time talking, so I sometimes use sign language.
15: ...and I have to work really hard to do things that are easy for most kids.
16: Even though it takes me longer to learn to do some things, it doesn't mean that I can't do them. I just have to practice more.
17: So please don't do things for me. | Just be patient and give me time to do it myself.
18: I also may look a little different...
19: ...but mostly, I think I look like my grandpa and my sister.
20: Just like you, having friends makes me happy.
21: I am Noah and I'd like to be your friend.

Wonderful book! As a mother of 5 I think it's beautiful! None of my children were born with DS but they are each one unique. This one lets us see what a truely wonderful boy Noah is. Thanks for sharing!

Your book is wonderful. I may order a copy for my classroom, if that's okay with you.

Noah is a beautiful little boy, and I think this book did an absolutely wonderful job fulfilling your vision. (I especially love the treehouse picture with sister and the bath towel picture- adorable!) God bless your family! :)

The comment below was sent in my Noah's great aunt Mary Jo. I had logged onto the website with with Lisa email address. Since I live in another state I haven't seen Noah since he was a little baby so now I get a second chance to say how much I enjoyed this book. Thank you Lisa.

What a beautiful story Noah. I think all who read this book will learn a lot about down syndrome and understand how special and happy you are to be able to tell them YOUR story. I hope to meet you in person some day. God bless you.
