BC: The last theme is the one that holds true thoughout the ages. It is the theme of eternal salvation by seeing one's sin and realizing the consequences of them. That was the reason for going through Hell.
FC: Themes of The Inferno
1: From the very opening of the book, a theme is found. This theme is of having lost your way in life spiritually as presented through the Dark Forest Dante is lost in.
2: Poetic justice and or irony is seen make up a large part of the poem. Stated plainly, you'll get what you deserve. Dante just had a way of going about it.
3: The previously mentioned concept is again seen in Dante's naming scheme, for example: Caina for Cain who killed his brother out of jealosy.
