17: JULY 11 2010 "BLESSED BY JEHOVAH, I STAND WITH THE MOAI OF EASTER ISLAND AND WITNESS THE TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN" Not for 1500 years had the sky above RAPA NUI darkened as the Moon crossed directly in front of the Sun. It is believed that the mysterious MOAI statues had not yet been carved or erected when the last Total Solar Eclipse took place here. The next time this amazing alignment of the Sun, the Moon and the Earth will take place is some 500 years. Will the Moai still be standing? Was this the one and only opportunity to see what I have seen here today? For me it may well be as life as we know it does not allow us to imagine a future of such a great span. As I explore this amazing place I am struck with the feeling that nothing I have heard about this lost civilization is the true story. These people did not destroy their world. They did not sink into cannibalism. This is a place of some great lost truth and being part of this remarkable moment is only the beginning of my journey towards a deeper understanding!
