 India September 2009
We traveled to India to visit our friends in Indore. Albert, Jaya Sema, Jessi and Jasmine welcomed us into their home and showed us Mother India. It was an incredible trip especially because of the time we got to spend with them. | We visited the Taj MaHal together and it was an incredible site to see. It is quite beautiful and the inlay work is impressive as well. It was built 350 years ago*as a testimony of the Emperor's love for his third wife who died in childbirth having their 14th child. We couldn't believe we were all actually there that day! | The Taj MaHal | Jasmine | Jaya & Albert
The women dress so beautifully. | This mother and daughter were at a Hindu temple selling "offerings."
The People of India | This child was riding on a motorcycle. | I saw several men who had dyed their hair red with henna. | These men were playing instruments and singing at a temple.
Hindus believe that god is everywhere and in everything. They believe that the god lives in the shrine and that viewing the statue is the same as being with him. | Krishna - the god of love and divine joy.
95 percent of the world's Hindus live in India. Hinduism is a mix of idol worship, reincarnation and the belief in hundreds of gods. | Ganesh - the god of success.
elephant | an | right in the middle of town!
We really wanted to see an elephant while we were in India. Albert said that we'd come across one in town. I had a hard time believing him but then - there it was! Grant and Jasmine went for a ride! | Now this is India!
Streets | Out on the | sweet rice balls
We were driving down the road when we came upon a man with three monkeys. He used the monkeys to tell us a story and then one of them climbed right upon our heads!
 cobras!
Down in the markets boys use cobras to earn money. They carry them in baskets and appear out of nowhere. You turn around and suddenly there's a boy holding a cobra out to you.
This is Albert & Jaya's house. | The cows are right outside the door. | After awhile you get used to cattle mooing in the morning right in town. | Life at Home in India
Their dog Rambo. | The gate keeps the cows out of the house. | The living room. | The kitchen.
The Dogs of India | I thought all the dogs in India on the streets were strays but they're not. Many "stray" dogs in the neighborhoods are cared for and fed. They live at the gates to people's houses. Burhee is nine years old. | Grant & Burhee at Jasmine's neighbor's house.
Bhuree was my favorite. She was expecting puppies. | Cry Baby - She loved to be touched.
Traveling by Train I love to travel by train - day or night. It is the most common way to travel so you see all kinds of people at the station.
 At the Hindu Temple
 Down at the River
 Life in
 Rittik - Jasmine's Cousin | India
Some things we saw along the way... | Jasmine & Grant
 Eric & Albert | A family of 6 on a motorcycle.
