FC: God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars. - Martin Luther | Prairie Creek Redwoods Summer 2004
1: Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park Summer 2004
2: To celebrate my graduation, Steven planned a camping trip to Prairie Creek Redwoods, a state park near the northern California border. It was also the perfect opportunity for testing out the ruggedness of his new Tacoma truck and the finesse of his new SLR digital camera.
6: In addition to the massive redwoods famously filmed in the Storm Trooper chase scenes of Star Wars, the "Prairie" part of the park is known to be home to many elk. The dead mole was not the only wildlife we enjoyed observing from our campsite!
7: Here, the elk are feeding on Gold Bluffs beach. But speaking of dead animals, we also were amused by a seal carcass that had washed up on the shore.
14: Steven and I enjoyed following the meandering creeks in Fern Canyon.
15: We were tickled to find small frogs and crawdads, hiding under bridges and rocks.
17: The huge, fallen, old forest growth provided for a great diverstity of life and textures, as well as turf for us to climb and conquer. To us, this was Nature's playground! It was as if we had been shrunken and sent back in time to this ancient world.
18: Wheeee!
20: On our last day, we went to a different beach and discovered one of the healthiest unspoiled tidepools we had ever seen. In reflecting upon the week, I asked Steven if there were any new revelations he had about me or our relationship. He replied, "You're good at jumping rocks."
22: A whole lot of lives!

Beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. The pictures are great and I like the composition. Also great story telling.

You're simply amazing as usual! Love love love the nature shots. Except for the photo of that dead mole :(
