Nik, this is a great book! The views are so picturesque. Btw, the Antelope Canyon pictures remind me of Peter Lik photos. If you haven't seen his work, be sure to check it out.

FC: Utah Extravaganza 2007

In July 2007, Andy Stromberg, Ryan Suess, Dave Stalsbroten, and Nik Harrang took a road trip to the beautiful Southwestern U.S. Our first stop was Zion National Park. | Well, actually, our first stop was in Bakersfield for an "In 'n' Out" burger, then on to Las Vegas to the pyramid-shaped Luxor casino, where Andy bet $1 and walked away with $4!

Our first hike of the trip was a six-mile walk up 'The Narrows' - the Virgin River canyon, with 2000 foot walls on either side.

We hiked up the Virgin River in Zion Canyon. It was a cool 82 degrees in the canyon, but over 100 degrees outside. After a long day of hiking we went to a local restaurant and ordered a tall glass of "Polygamy Porter."

Our next day hike was up "Angel's Landing," a 5 mile trip with a 1500' elevation gain.

After Zion, our next stop was Glen Canyon on the Colorado River. We camped near Lake Powell and drove out to Horseshoe Bend the next morning.

The highlight of the trip was our visit to Antelope Canyon, a small slot canyon beautifully carved by flash floods. | We took a 'photo tour' with Navajo guides at mid day. The sun was shining directly overhead, lighting up the canyon in all of its sculpted beauty.

Finally we visited the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, where we camped for one night.

This trip was a truly great time spent with friends and enjoying some of America's most scenic spots. I thank God for His goodness in allowing us to enjoy those few days together in Utah and Arizona. "You alone are the LORD. You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them. You preserve and give life to everything, and all the angels of heaven worship you." ~ Nehemiah 9:6
