FC: "Hey! It's really cramped in here!" | By: Joe Kripal

Hello world. It's very dark in here. I was traveling through the uterus and when I got to the fallopian tubes, I met this gigantic egg and fertilized it, making us one big zygote. Once I went back to the uterus, I implanted into the endometrium for nourishment. Mommy has been complaining that she has to go to the bathroom a lot recently. She just found out I'm in here, and when she told daddy they both were very happy. I'm only about 2mm long and 150 cells. I'm very excited to come into the world. | Month 1

Month 2 | Wow! This month I sure did grow a lot! Mommy just got back from the doctor and he said that I'm almost 1/2 inch long and weigh 1-2 grams. Something inside me started making a pounding sound, I bet it was my heart forming! My arms, legs, eyes, and ears have started growing, so I'll be able to explore the world when I arrive! Mommy has been very tired recently, so she has been sleeping a lot, which sometimes makes daddy mad. She keeps forgetting I'm in here and eats a lot of sweet things, which I don't like very much.

Month 3 | Mommy's doctor put a machine on her stomach; it was really cold. He said she could see my arms and legs moving, which made mom very happy. She couldn't see a lot of me because I am only 3 inches long and weigh 1 ounce. My heart is now one whole muscle. I think I'm going to be a boy because my penis has started to form! But don't tell mommy, she doesn't know yet. Daddy will be very excited to hear the news!

Month 4 | Mommy is feeling a lot better this month. She is getting very anxious about putting on a lot of extra weight. Her doctor said I'm getting to be above average as far as weight, saying I weigh 10 ounces when the average is only 8. He also said I am average height, 6 inches big! This seemed to worry him and mommy is going to be tested for diabetes next month. My insides are starting to fill up with intestines, and inside my intestines, black goo is forming, it will be my first stool, called meconium.

Month 5 | The world sure is a loud place now that my ears have developed! I've been very itchy since fine hair called lanugo is covering my body, along with some gooey stuff called vernix to protect me. The doctors say I'm still above normal weight, weighing 1 1/4 lbs and only 8 inches long. He also said that mommy has gestational diabetes, which means I can be a really big baby and have other risks, which scares me. On a lighter note, daddy gets really excited now that I can and so does mommy.

I sure do wish I had something to grab onto now that I can move my hands! Being 2 1/2 lbs and 10 inches, I'm starting to make mommy's belly push out. Daddy complains that she has to buy new clothes all the time, but I don't see why that would be a problem! I have been practicing breathing since my lungs are starting to form as well. Mommy has had to watch what she eats a lot so that she can keep her gestational diabetes in check and try to keep my as safe as possible! | Month 6

This was the first time I have been able to open my eyes, and it sure is dark! I hope the outside world has more light in it. I also learned something new, that I can cry and get mommy's attention, even though I'm still inside her. Day by day I grow, and now I'm 11 inches long and weigh 4 pounds, which mommy thinks is really big. She has been saying her back has been hurting, but her doctor said that's normal. | Month 7

Mommy has had a lot of trouble sleeping recently, but I've been getting plenty of sleep! Now that I have REM sleep, I'm having dreams of weird colors. It's getting really cramped in here, so I've started to turn upside down so I can leave through the vaginal canal in a month or so. To get prepared, I also have kept growing, and now am about 13 inches long and weigh 7 pounds. Daddy said he finished putting my room together and that he had no idea having a baby would be so much work. He said he's still excited, though! | Month 8

Month 9 | Mommy just had another talk with her doctor, and he says that since I'm 9 pounds and 20 inches, she won't be able to birth me naturally and they will have to open her tummy to get me out, which made mommy very sad. The doctor said it wasn't her fault I weigh so much, though, and that it was because of her gestational diabetes. He also said I have a increased risk of diabetes, so she'll have to watch what I eat. I'm really scared and hope they don't accidentally hurt me! I even turned upside down for nothing! Oh well, at least I'll be with mommy and daddy soon! See you on the outside!
