4: Austin | Song Country Western/swing | Austin is a country song written by Blake Shelton. This song is about a girl who lives in Austin, Texas and she leaves phone messages to Blake. The song starts with "She left without leaving her number. Said she wanted to clear her mind." Shelton and Miranda Lambert who is from Lindale, Texas just got married.

5: Brooklyn Jazz Cafe | Music Venue Jazz | In Dallas the Brooklyn Jazz Cafe is the the place to go for live music and good food. Bands and artists such as Rob Holbert,the Freddie Jones Quartet,and the Buster Brown Band all play there.The Brooklyn Jazz Cafe has a live jazzy act almost every night of the week. It was established in 2010. the Brooklyn Jazz Cafe is also called Brooklyn...A Jazzy Place.

6: Austin City Limits | Music Festival Rock | Austin City Limits takes place at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. ACL lasts from Friday to Saturday.This year's 2011 ACL will be on September 16th-18th. The festival began in 2002 and what better place to have it than at the music capitol of the world. ACL helps the Austin economy too, about 30 million dollars worth of help. Rock bands such as the Raconteurs and the Dave Matthews band both have played there in the past.

7: Dixie Chicks | Band Country Western/ Swing | The band form in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, originally having four members. Not only do the singers Natalie, Emily, and Marie have talent but so is their band. David Grissom is the band leader and guitarist, along with him the Dixie Chicks are accompanied by two more guitarists, a keyboarder, a bass player, a drummer a violinist and a cellist. The Dixie Chicks Are Currently not on tour.

8: East Texas Symphony Orchestra | Band Classical | The East Texas Symphony Orchestra is located in Tyler, Texas. The orchestra includes violins, violas, cellos, double bass, flute, piccolo, oboe, English horn, bassoon, clarinet, horn, trumpet and more. As a way to help contribute to the musical opportunities of students The East Texas Symphony helps train children. Occasionally the symphony has guest artists. In 2009 they had Edwin Holt, a native Texas blues player.

9: Funk Mob | Band Jazz | The Funk Mob is an Austin, Texas based band. It is made up of nine musicians. Some of The Funk Mob's songs are "Candy", "September", and "Crazy in Love". Instruments they use are drums, bass, keyboard and more. The bands has played with people such as Patti Labelle, and Larry Braggs and has played at The Cool River and The Oasis.

10: Selena Gomez | Solo Artist Pop | Selena Gomez was born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas. Her first acting role was on Barney and Friends. She has also stared on many Disney movies and shows such as Wizards of Waverly Place and Princess Protection Program. Selena's first song was "Cruela De Vil" in 2008. Since then Selena has made an album in 2009, Kiss and Tell and new songs such as "A year Without Rain" and "Who Says".

11: Hillary Duff | Solo Artist Pop | Hilary Duff was born in Houston, Texas in 1987. Her first acting role was in the mini series True Women when she was ten. Hilary has also stared in The Lizzie McGuire Movie and show. She has also been in fifteen other movies. In 1999 Hilary began her singing career. Some of her albums are called Most Wanted and Dignity. Some songs are 'Why Not" and "Play With Fire".

12: I'm Going to Love You Too | I'm Going To Love You Too was a song co-written by Buddy Holly who was born in Lubbock, Texas. The other writers were Joe B. Mauldin, Niki Sullivan, and Norman Petty. I'm Going To Love You Too was released in 1978. Holly Buddy also known as Charles Hardin Holley had his own band, The Crickets, which had Mauldin and Petty in it.Holly died in 1959. | Song Rock

13: J & J Texas Road House and Blues Bar | Music Venue Blues/ Bluegrass | The J & J Texas Road House and Blues Bar is located in Fort Worth, Texas and was in business since 1986. Unfortunately it is now closed. Blues Bands that have played in the past are VooDoo Blues, Wes Jeans, and The Vintage Vibe. The owner was Jim Schusler.

14: Kerrville Folk Festival | Music Festival Traditional/ Folk/ Americana | The Kerrville Folk Festival has been around since 1972 and takes place in Kerrville, Texas. The festival features over one-hundred artists. Some of the artists include Jon Brooks, Sun Brother, and Cathy Fink. This year the festival will be through May 26- June 12. On each Saturday and Sunday concerts are put on for the kids.

15: Barbara Lynn | Solo Artist Rhythm & Blues/ Soul/ Hip Hop | Barbara Lynn was born in Beaumont, Texas. She is know for being a rhythm and blues guitarist and singer. She was one of the very first woman to hit the charts. One of her R&B songs is "You'll Lose A Good Thing". When she was a child she first played the piano Elvis Presley inspired her to play the guitar. Barbara was well known during the 80s and went on tour in Japan.

16: Marley Festival | Music Festival Rhythm & Blues/ Soul/Hip Hop | The Marley Festival also know as the Bob Marley Festival is located in Houston,Texas at the Buffalo Bayou Park. The Festival includes local, national, and international reggae, ska, fusion singers, drummers and Djs. Along with music there are jugglers, dancers and poets.

17: New San Antonio Rose | Song Traditional/ Folk/ Americana | The song "New San Antonio Rose" was written by Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys. It was written in 1983. It opens with the refrain- "Deep within my heart, there lies a melody... a song of old Antone..." It was originally an instrumental song and called San Antonio Rose. When lyrics were added, it was called New San Antonio Rose. The tune was developed from the common-" Spanish-Two-Step"

18: Texas Our Texas | Song Traditional/ Folk/Americana | "Texas Our Texas" is a Traditional song, and also happens to be the state song. It was selected in a state-wide competition in 1929. It was written by William J. Marsh, and Gladys Yoakum Wright. It was originally written in 1924, and only one line has ever been changed- "largest and grandest" to "boldest and grandest," when Alaska joined into statehood.

19: The Barry Sea Paradox | Band Jazz | The Barry Sea Paradox is Jazz Band based in Houston, Texas. The members of this band are Barry and Bobbie(Barbara) Sea, Yvette Busby, Denis Cotton, Luke Richards, and Andrew Burt. They play the tenor saxophone, keyboard, guitar base and drums. The groups leaders met in the 1970's in New York, after they left show business to raise a family.

20: Dan Quinn Band | Solo Artist Rock | The Dan Quinn Band is a one-man band, it got its start in Dallas/ Fort Worth, Texas. Dan Quinn still lives in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area. The Dan Quinn Band does not write his own music, but is still very popular. Dan Quinn has been making music for almost ten years now and because he doesn't write his own music, he plays many different types- hip hop, rock, pop, country, and Americana.

21: Roy Harkey | Solo Artist Blues/ Bluegrass | Roy Harkey has been singing and playing instruments throughout his life. In his youth, he played for an Oklahoma band, and co-wrote a country song called "Groovy Grubworm". It quickly went to number one on the charts. He lived in Plano Texas for a while, but traveled to many different places for his performances. When he was young he played the accordion, trumpet, tuba, guitar, electric bass, and the upright string bass.

22: Strangleweed | Band Rock | Strangleweed is a rock band that was first formed in Dallas, Texas in 2001. The members of this band are: Starchild, Travis Arnold, Ken Youngar, Stark, and Neal Andreason. Some of their major influences were Aerosmith, ACDC, and The Black Crows. They always stayed true to their philosophy- be true to yourself, play well, and be true to the music. They were only a band for eight years, and the hight of their career was in the year 2004.

23: North Texas Jazz Festival | Music Festival Jazz | The North Texas Jazz Festival is an annual jazz festival that takes place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Addison, Texas. The North Texas Jazz Festival is non-competitive, but each day one group is picked to perform again that night. It is an invitational festival, and middle schools and high schools submit a recording to be considered for playing each year. The festival is a collaboration between The North Texas Jazz Studies Division, and the town of Addison.

24: Uptown Marble Theater | Music Venue Classical | Uptown Marble Theater was as a movie house in 1942, and remained that until 2003. It is located in Marble Falls, Texas, and in 2004 it became a live entertainment venue. It not only shows live music, but also comedy acts, theater, dance, and art presentations. The theater seats 250- 280 people and has twenty rows of seats! It even has a full bathroom and dressing room, for the artists' comfort.

25: Ventana Del Soul | Music Venue Classical | Ventana Del Soul is located in Austin, Texas. After the tragedy of September, 11, a group of Austin students noted the communities modd of togetherness, and consideration. They eventually came up with Ventana Del Soul. Their goal is to provide food service and culinary arts training to under-employed youth and adults so that they can start a career. Ventana Del Soul is a non- profit organization, and with funds from the community, they have many people get a job.

26: West Texas Book and Music Fest | Music Festival Rhythm & Blues/ Soul/ Hip Hop | The West Texas Book and Music Fest is a five day long event that has been going on for two or three years. It is held every year in Abilene, Texas, and many people drive from other cities and states to see it. It has many author panels that sign books and do special readings, while there are concerts by various bands. The West Texas Book and Music Festival is held to promote Abilene as a cultural area, to benefit the Abilene public library system, and to spotlight local and regional musical talent.

27: King's X Bar | Music Venue Blues/ Bluegrass | King's X Bar is located in El Paso, Texas. It was established 1963. It features a full bar, bands, comedians, karaoke, and more. It has happy hour from four to seven. The meals served at the King's X Bar is from a restaurant called Lucy's.

28: The Yellow Rose of Texas | Song Traditional/ Folk/ Americana | The Yellow Rose of Texas was written by Mark Whitelaw Circa 1836. It is most like written just after the time that Sam Houston led his army in The Battle of San Jacinto against Santa Anna. It is presumably about a black man( probably a soldier) who leaves his "yellow rose." Yellow was a term given to Americans of mixed race in those days, and Rose was a popular name for a woman. The first copy writed edition of the song was published in 1858. The song's original title tells us who the yellow rose was- Emily, the Maid of Morgan's Point.

29: Dr. Zog Band | Band Blues/ Bluegrass | The Dr. Zog Band includes Dr.Zog, Jake Rivera, David K, Bryan Breaux, and Gary Fiest.They all grew up loving music and playing instruments in their Youth's. When Dr.Zog was growing up in Port Arthur his father got lung cancer and died. Jake Rivera is the newest addition to the band and is from El Paso. David K. grew up in Missouri, but now lives in Austin, he started playing guitar in his youth and now is the guitarist of the band. Bryan Breaux grew up in Port Arthur, and is the drummer for the band. Finally, Gary Fiest grew up in Chicago, but moved to Austin and started playing the bass guitar.
