BC: AVERY IS TWO | One was fun, but two already suits you! We can't wait to see the next chapter of "who you are" unfold. There are big things in store for you, kid. We love you!


1: Tater Tot | Baby A | A-Lo | Peanut | Doodlebug | Little Bit | Ava Kate | Squirt | "A" | Tiny Tot | Monkey | Little One | Two years. You may officially be a toddler now, but you will always be our baby girl. This year you brought us so much joy. You are funny. You are independent. You are a free spirit. You are beautiful. And you are already so smart! We love you so very much. Thank you for bringing your childish wonder into our lives. You make us better people. We have loved watching your personality unfold this year, and we can't wait to see what the next year has in store for you! | AVERY | Kate


3: You were a happy little butterfly at your The Very Hungry Caterpillar themed birthday party. Your first taste of cake was delightfully messy and unabashedly enjoyed. Mommy and Daddy enjoyed throwing your first party and seeing you have fun with all of your caterpillar friends. | ...but she was still hungry

5: IT'S FUN TO BE ONE! | 1

8: Happy Birthday (for real)!!

9: We celebrated your "real" birthday quietly at home, just the way we like it,! You did not like your birthday hat and to prove your point, refused to crack a smile during the birthday song. You were quick to cheer up, though, when given a piece of cookie cake and the opportunity to make another delightfully adorable birthday mess. At your one year check-up, you weighed 17 lb, 14 oz and were 27.25 inches tall,

10: First trip to the Houston ZOO

11: on this trip to the zoo, some of your favorite animals were the giraffes, elephants, grizzly bear, and cow. your most favorite animals, however, were the birds that swarmed your stroller during lunch as you threw them crackers and turkey. After lunch, you had a grand old time "chasing" them around.

22: Spring has sprung

24: You thought the giraffes and elephants were pretty great, but your favorite animals were the ducks and the birds. Not colorful, tropical birds, but crows. MARCH '09 | Back to the ZOO

25: 3rd annual Sunflower Lane Crawfish Boil You were completely intrigued by and unafraid of the crawfish. Natalie declawed one, and it quickly become your "pet." You had an unbelievable amount of fun with your friends this day. | Aprilas | April '09

26: Easter Celebration at Wesley UMC | You enjoyed playing lots of games with Daddy, especially those that involved bubbles!

27: You weren't quite sure what to think of the Easter Bunny, but you knew just what to do during the egg hunt!

28: Happy Easter

29: You were a very efficient egg-hunter this year after lots of practice during PaPaw and Grandma's visit. You looked so pretty all dressed up for church in your Easter dress.

30: MAUI April 2009 | People told us we were crazy to take you with us on the trip of our dreams, but we wouldn't have had it any other way! You were the perfect little traveler and had so much fun playing on the beach.

32: Our favorite restaurant in Maui was Hula Grill. You made quite an impression on everyone there. The band sang "It's a Wonderful World" just for you. You smiled and danced and clapped your hands. You made a little friend too.

33: You enjoyed exploring the grounds at the Old Lahaina Luau, and you looked so pretty with your flower in your hair.

40: Just another Friday night... | We started the evening with dinner out, then made our way to Rogers Park. You played on the splash pad until your hands and toes turned blue! You were the youngest child out there, but you were fearless and had so much fun. We finished the evening off with ice cream cones for all.

42: Flower Girl | You were the flower girl in the wedding of Ali Duffel, Mommy's childhood friend, and Chris Neumann. | June 2009

43: You looked so pretty in your fancy dress, and barring a few not-so-adorable loudmouthed "Nooooo's!" shouted as the bridesmaids processed in and Mommy struggled to keep you confined for just a few minutes more, you were on your best behavior. | Daddy sat on the front row with "Melmo" while you and Mommy waited for your turn. When the time came, Mommy gave you a push, said go get Daddy and Elmo, and off you went. You ran down the aisle, leaving the ring bearer in the dust!

44: You danced 'til you dropped! | The Reception

45: the transition to the TODDLER BED | July '09 | Mommy was a drill sergeant during your first nap, but it didn't take long for you to learn to "stay in that bed!" | with little brother on the way, the time quickly came for...

47: sweet, sweet summertime at the POOL

50: Last days of summer on Sunflower Lane | It was a good house. It was a great street. We had amazing friends. We enjoyed our last few weeks in Beaumont in true Sunflower Lane style - outside on the driveway surrounded by friends. There was sidewalk chalk, finger paint, sprinklers, and of course lots and lots of bubbles.

52: Carolina Girl north carolina south carolina september '09 | You were loved on quite a lot during this trip! You got to see Aunt Kathryn, Uncle Phil, Grandma, PaPaw, Great Grandma Lobocki, and lots of other people in Daddy's family. You had fun spending a morning at the zoo with your friends, Mary Wyatt and Harper! Mommy and Daddy enjoyed taking you to Krispy Kreme for your first "Hot Now" donuts. You liked watching the donuts being made.

53: First day of School! | Your first day at Grace Preschool was September 29, 2009. From the very start, you loved your teachers, Ms. Stacy and Ms. Tracy, and all of your classmates. You attended class two days per week. Throughout the school year, you woke up each morning and asked, "School today?" - you loved it! Mommy loved hearing about your day each afternoon on the way home.

54: Avery's | big girl room | You loved the freedom and Mommy loved the new and improved snuggle space that came with the transition to a big girl bed.

61: This was the first time you helped Mommy bake! You stirred the batter, put all of the liners in the pan, watched them "get big" in the oven, put on the sprinkles, and added the pumpkin toothpicks! You were such a big helper and were so proud of the final product! October '09

65: trick or treat | You were the cutest Abby Cadabby that we have ever seen! You loved it all - the costume, the confetti eggs, and of course the candy! You said "mo tik or treat" all night long.

68: Elmo Big Bird and Abby Cadabby are great, but Elmo - or "Melmo" - is your main squeeze. You wake up asking for him and carry him with you from room to room through the day. | Art Like playing outside, arts and crafts projects always seem to make everything better. You love crayons, fingerpaint, and sidewalk chalk. You know what NOT to color on, but can't always restrain yourself. | Playing Outside No matter how grouchy you may be, I can always win you over by taking you outside to play. You get your feelings hurt if anyone leaves the house without you. The park, the driveway, the backyard - you love it all! | Books Oh how you love your books, and it makes Mommy so happy. Books never fail to amuse you, and whether you are cuddled in our lap or scouring them on your own, you are happy to hear stories and look at pictures. | "Tickle, Tickle" A day is not complete if you don't shriek, "tickle, tickle me!" at least once. You love to tickle and to be tickled. One rowdy "tickle, tickle" session with Uncle Kyle on Halloween earned you your first black eye! | These are a few of

69: Bubbles The number of pictures of bubbles in this book should give you some insight to how much you really love them. You squeal, run, chase, and try very very hard to blow them yourself. | Animals You love all animals - especially if you can chase them! You love the zoo. You love Kitty Cow, the cat that lives next door. You, of course, love Lucy. And you love birds - especially those we see in parking lots! | TV & Movies Thanks to Mommy's pregnancy (and lack of energy) you have become quite addicted to TV. You love to snuggle and watch Blues Clues in our bed first thing each morning. Your favorite movies are Finding Nemo ("Meno") and Cinderella ("Rella"). | Ducks You fell in love with a family of "baby quack quacks" this fall. You talked about them non-stop for days. You love feeding them Cheerios and bread, although sometimes you prefer to eat the bread yourself! | Inflatables You went to your first "big girl" birthday party at Bounce Zone this spring. You loved jumping and sliding and did great keeping up with the older kids. You beg so often to go "jump, jump, jump" that it was no question where to hold your 2nd birthday party! | Avery's Favorite Things
