FC: THE TROUBLED
 Done by: Katrina A. Burris
Once upon a time there were nine young African American men who had their minds set on boarding a train. While attempting to board the train the nine young men were attacked by two white hobos.
While they attempted to fight the nine young men, they were thrown off of the train gaining nothing more than hurt pride. The two hobos frustrated by the event ran to the Scottsboro Alabama sheriff to file a complaint on the young men.
Hearing of this news the sheriff went out searching for the nine young men. He searched with the intentions of taking them in one by one.
While on his search he ended up finding all nine of the young men. Unfortanetly for the young men they were found with two young white woman. This of which was a bad mistake on their part. The young woman embarrassed for being found with the young men then lied to the sheriff. They told the sheriff that the young men had assaulted them in a very sexual way. This giving the sheriff another charge to put on the young mens files.
Not long after the nine young men were taking into custody the two women were taken to be examined by the doctor. In their examination the doctor found no signs of them ever being assaulted in a sexual way by the nine men. This being proff that the young men had never touched the young women in anyway.
A couple of days passed after the women were examined before the men went to trial. They went to trial not for fighting the hobo's, but on the charge of sexually assaulting the two young white women. Even though the doctors examination proved to the court that the young men had not assaulted the young women. the nine young men were still sentenced to death by the court on false charges.
A couple years went by for the young men when they were finally taken back to court. They were taken back in hopes of them getting out of jail, and not having a fair first trial. It was said that the mens 14 th amendent rights had been violated by the courts. In the mist of having this new chance at freedom the court then a second time sentence all nine men to death. All on the same false charges.
While they had been sentenced to the same time, and charges they were not willing to give up. All nine young men were taken back to court for a third time. This time because it was said that the young mens due process was violated by the courts.
This giving the young men another shot at freedom. During this trial the nine young mens case was thrown out, and they were set free of all the charges that were held falsely against them.
Soon after the trial the nine young men were released from jail. The nine young men were released in 1940, exactly nine years after they were taken into jail on false charges.
