FC: Cells | The basic unit of us

 Cell Theory

Principle 1: All living things are made up by cells | Principle 2: New cells are created by old cells splitting in two | Principle 3: Cells are the basic unit of life

Contributions | Robert Hooke first discovered cells by looking at a piece of cork | Schleiden declared that all plants were made up of these "cells" | Schwann then discovered that all animals were made up of these cells | Virchow finally observed that cells multiplied by themselves

Prokaryotic | Prokaryotes have no nucleus

Eukaryotic | Eukaryotes are what make up us- and they have a nucleus

Plant | These make up all plants. They have a cell wall and storage for water. Chloroplasts are what cause photosynthesis

Animal | These are what make up animals. They lack a cell wall and need external energy - no photosynthesis

Cell Structures | Lysosomes carry around proteins | Chloroplasts conduct photosynthesis | Mitochondia provide energy for the cell | The ER provide instructions to Ribosomes | Vacuoles hold water for plant cells

The nucleus holds genetic information | Ribosomes create proteins | Cytoplasm creates support for the cell | The cell membrane protects the cell from the elements | The Golgi apparatus transports things in and out of the cell

 Cell Membrane

Homeostasis | Homeostasis is when a cell reaches an equilibrium in temperature, food, and overall function This allows all plants and animals to live
