BC: The End
Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. CathyAllen
By Edward Steichen in 1932 http://vi.sualize.us/reinfriedmarass/edward%20steichen/ Steichen loved to push the limit in fashion photography. He was a pioneer in the industry. This particular photograph captured my attention because of it's modern look. I also love the contrast in patterns and textures.
By Iain Macmillan on August 8th, 1969 London, England http://beatlestweets.posterous.com/abbey-road-album-cover-shoot-b This is such an iconic photograph of The Beatles. They are the greatest rock n' roll band of all time. I love them and I also love how such a simple photo shoot idea became such a famous picture.
By Dorthea Lange December 1935 in New Mexico http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/2009/12/06/photography-of-dorothea-lange-an-american-archive-hard-times/ Dorthea is a famous historic photographer. This picture is wonderful because it almost makes you feel as depressed as the little girl is feeling. It brings out the emotions of the subject and even the room itself helps add to this.
By Alfred Eisenstaedt on August 14th, 1945 http://www.toptenz.net/top-10-famous-kisses.php People in New York City began celebrating as the end of World War II was announced. That's when this photograph was taken. I love it because it was not planned and it was just a spontaneous kiss that captured the excitement of that moment.
By Terry Richardson in February 2011 http://www.dontparty.co.za/2011/02/lady-gaga-supreme-terry-richardson-purple-mag/ Lady Gaga has become the most popular female artists of today. She has always fascinated me, because there isn't anything she won't do.
By Henri Cartier-Bresson 1932 in Hyres, France http://copulastudio.com/home/?p=2753 This is another example of a photographer who was ahead of his time, in the style of his photographs. It is a very beautiful picture. I love the depth of this picture. Another aspect that captured my interest was the man biking which is a past time of mine.
By Robert Doisneau 1944, in Paris, France http://www.art.com/products/p14433162-sa-i2909606/robert-doisneau-champ-de-mars-paris.htm Doisneau was a very influential photographer in France. This is my favorite photograph by him, because it's comical. Instead of a serious picture of the Effiel Tower, we see a man walking a bunny in the foreground. I love everything about this picture.
By Ansel Adams between 1933-1942 in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. http://www.historyplace.com/unitedstates/adams/ Adams was a famous landscape photographer in the United States. I was initially intrigued by his work, because he is able to find and capture the beauty in everything. The shoots are set up perfectly. This picture in particular is special because it reminds me of fall trips to my grandparent's lake house.
By Alfred Eisenstaedt in 1963 at the Paris Opera Ballet School http://www.art.com/products/p13870523-sa-i2773076/alfred-eisenstaedt-ballerinas-practicing-at-paris-opera-ballet-school.htm This is another fine example of the amazing work of Alfred. This picture matters to me because I used to take ballet and always wished I would have kept with it.
By James Nachtwey 1994 in Rwanda http://www.ananasamiami.com/2011/05/photography-by-james-nachtwey.html James is a world famous war photographer. This photograph is of a survivor of a death camp in Rwanda. It means something to me because it shows just one example of someone who needs help and I should be willing to help them.
This is a picture of myself and my sister, Laura, at Knobles in Elysburg PA. It was taken by our mutual friend Becca last summer. This picture is important to me because I do not have a lot of recent pictures with my sister and I love her so that's why I like this picture. Not to mention that I also love going to Knobels.
This is a picture of one of the last times I hung out with my friend Nicole. Int his picture we are at Jordan Lanes bowling alley. Nicole took this picture in late August of this year. It's important to me because Nicole moved down to South Carolina to start school and I will not see her till Christmas. Since she's my best friend I miss her a lot but can look back at this picture and remember all the good times we've had.
