Beth Meeks, MS Executive Director Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence

14: We are acutely aware of just how important Martha's role has been in the CASA program in the 21st Judicial District. Martha was the first volunteer in this JDC, working with Judge Kopfler, and at the genesis of the program, took on many duties to keep this labor of love going. She took on the supervision of other volunteers and kept administrative duties up to date. She was the first volunteer to complete the training. When Tamara came on as Executive Director in 1994, Martha was right there with her, every step of the way, and not earning a penny for her time. Tamara recognized the heart that Martha had for the program, and the many talents that she possessed and wanted to share. As soon as Tamara procured funding from NCASAA she brought Martha into a well-earned paid position. She was and has always been loyal to CASA, even as she followed Tamara to LaCASA many years later, and then on to her work with LaFASA. Martha’s tireless dedication to the CASA program should be made known to as many people as possible. Tamara & Felix Indest
