FC: Crime: Al Capone
On the date of January 17th, 1899, Alphonse Gabriel Capone was born to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, New York. Many souls wish that day could be erased from time, for they might still be alive. The Name alone makes the police force of the 1930s tremble with fear, and many, beyond fear. The only icon that could make police forces this scared is a real American Gangster. | Crime
The criminal bound boy started his life with promise at a strict catholic school his parents made him attend. He was described as "very street smart", but he failed to follow a majority of the rules at the school. He was expelled at the age of 14 after hitting a female teacher. Capone then started working a varitety of jobs such as a candy store clerk and at a bowling alley. During this time in his life, he was a part of many small gangs, but none real majestic. | Crime
Although he failed to earn a school education, he did learn a so called "gang education." He looked up to many of the leaders of the smaller gangs and even reffered to one (Johnny Torrio) as his mentor. As his age climbed, he joined more supreme gangs and while in one, he disrespected a leader and later that night, was slash three times on the left side of his face giving him the name "Scareface." It is not a coincidence that this event occured because Capone was tagged as "snorky" by his closest friends. He then settled himself for a period of time and got married and had a child. The peace would not last long though. He then got a call from his former mentor (Johnny Torrio). He claimed his brother was have problems with a gang in Chicago, so Capone headed to the windy city to settle the issue. | Crime
The issue was resolved by Capone killing the members of the gang that were causing the problems. He and Torrio started a campaign together to run for a place of power in the Chicago government. They won. They soon had a north side rival gang and Torrios' company was raided and he and the leader of the north side gang (Dean O'Bainion) were arrested. This left Capone in complete power. When reporters interviewed him on what he had done, he replied, "All I do is satisfy a public demand." This lifted him to stardom in the gangster world. As you can imagine, the police were after him. He had numerous hideouts, and one was even in Brookfield, Wisconsin. | Crime
Crime | After all his hideouts were set up, you could tell, something big was going to happen. They still had a rivalry with the north side gang and their operations on their production of liquor were hurting the profits of Capone's gang. So on Febuary 14th, 1929, Capone ordered some of his fellow gang members to go check out the area in which they would be. They quickly saw that they were there. They posed as policemen and when they got close enough, they beat the men up and lined them up against a wall. Then, they fired with a machine gun back and forth along the wall till every victim had approximitly 20 bullets piercing their flesh. This was the biggest event that Capone was known for. Then, an investigation was launched on him by Eliot Ness. They could not prove the murders so they got him with tax evasion and after a long battle, Capone was sent to prison. He was sent to high security prisons, but within all of him, he still managed to run the gang. After the authorities realized this, they sent him to Alcatraz.
