things needed: | Yellow, Orange, White, and Brown makeup Red Lipstick Applicator Brush Applicator Sponges

Step 1 | Clean dirt, oil, and old makeup from face.

Step 2 | Use a sponge to apply orange to entire chin, leaving a curve under the cheeks. Apply to eyelids and straight out from the corners of the eye and straight up from the inner corner of the eye to the inner corner of the eyebrow and then to the hairline.

Step 3 | Use a sponge to apply white to all areas of the face where skin is still showing. Be sure to include the dip under the cheeks. The white needs to be applied fairly thick.

Step 4 | Using a sponge, use yellow to smoothly blend the orange and white together. Then, use the yellow to blend the white into the hairline and to blend the orange into the neck. Also dab yellow above the lip and on the chin.

Step 5 | Using a brush, apply red to lips. On the upper lip, over-emphasize the top peaks and minimize the outer edges. On the bottom lip, extend the lip color slightly below the natural bottom of the lip and round the edges.

Step 6 | Using a brush, apply black as shown. Eyebrows: follow natural brows, then curve outer edges upward and inner edges down. Eyes: cover eyelid completely, then add a bold line below the eye. Connect upper and lower black with a bold sweep upward on the outer edge of eye. Nose: outline the bottom of the nose around both nostrils, then fill in between the nostrils, but do not line under the nostrils. Lip: line the top of the lip, then extend the line downward before curving up. Lin the middle of the bottom lip, but do not connect it all the way with upper lining on either side. With a thin line, connect the bottom of the nose with the middle of the upper lip.

Step 7 | Use a brush to add black accent lines as shown. Three V's above both sides of the lip. Extend three whiskers beside these. A thin line just below the lower lining of eyes. Two rows of dots across the nose.

Step 8 | Using a brush, apply black fur lines as shown. Two small strokes between eyeliner and eyebrows. Small and longer strokes along the side of the face above and to the side of the ears. And you're done.

Fantasy - Elf Ears | after | before | Difficultly: Hard Time: 2.5 hours (after basic makeup)

things needed: | Latex Elf Ears Liquid Latex Spirit Gum (& remover) Base Makeup Highlighting & Shadowing makeup Applicator Sponge Applicator Brush Hair Clips and Ties

Step 1 | Clean dirt and oil off of the ear and using any number of clips and bobby pins, pull hair as far away from the ear as possible.

Step 2 | Make sure the ears are clean. Then, trim the lower front edge of the ear to match with the outer hole part of your ear. Apply stage makeup base to all parts of the ear except the very outer edges that touch your skin.

Step 3 | Before gluing the ear on, practice putting the ear where you want it a few times without glue. When you use spirit gum, this with be a lot more difficult.

Step 4 | Apply spirit gum to the inside of the back of the ear. Place the ear on where you want it and hold it there for a minute or two. Then, apply spirit gum to the edges of the front of the ear but not on the flap the hangs off the front side. Allow the glue 30 seconds to become tacky, then hold it to the ear for two minutes. When this is secure, apply spirit gum to the back of the side flap. Allow for it to get tacky, then hold it down for two minutes.

Step 5 | Once the spirit gum is completely dry, use liquid latex to cover the seam between the real ear and the fake.

Apply a thin layer of latex about half an inch wide over the seam at the inner flap and the outer edge on the front and the back. Do not worry about the inner back of the ear as no one will see it. Allow time for this layer of latex to completely dry before applying another coat. This can take 15 to 30 minutes each layer. While the first layer of latex is drying on ear one, go ahead and complete steps 1-4 for ear two and apply latex. Alternate between ears to save time. After about 3 coats, the seam should be smoothed over. If not, apply another coat or two.

Step 7 | Now that the seam between real and fake ears is smooth, apply makeup base over the rest of the fake ear over the seam. If desired, add highlighting and shading to make the ear appear more realistic.

Step 8 | Once both ears are complete, use spirit gum remover to get dried glue out of the hair. Then style the hair, pose, and you're done.
