1: Forms Of Government | Chapter 1
2: Ancient River Valley Civilizations | Mesopotamia had one ruler per city state. They also followed Hammurabi's Code. | Ancient Egypt had a Pharaoh with absolute power. | The Indus Valley's government is unknown but was probably centralized | Ancient China had a Monarchy (one ruler).
3: Classical Dynasties of Ancient China | The Zhou Dynasty had an emperor and used Feudalism. There was constant war, so the last 400 years= pretend rule (Era of Warring States) | The Qin dynasty had an Emperor who had absolute power. They were very centralized, and used a bureaucracy. They also believed in the Mandate of Heaven. | The Han Dynasty - had an Emperor with absolute power - developed the civil service system - strong centralized government - believed in the Mandate of Heaven - use of bureaucracy
4: Classical India used absolute power and created a highly bureaucratic government that divided the empire into four divisions, each of which were ruled by a royal prince.

8: People that lived in Ancient Egypt used hieroglyphics to write. | People from Mesopotamia used Cunieform as their main writing system. | Cunieform | Hierglyphics
9: When China was just starting out the Chinese developed this character writing which is still used today.
10: People who practiced Judaism in Israel used Hebrew as their main writing system. | In Ancient Rome, the Romans used Latin as their main writing system. A lot of English was originated from Latin.
11: Ancient Greeks used Greek as their main writing system. | The Indus river valley and Ancient India used symbol writing that has still not been decoded.

14: Hammurabi's code was a law code found in Iran between 1901 and 1902 A.D. | The code has 282 different laws. | Hammurabi's code was written in cuneiform on a stone slab that was 8 feet high.
15: The code covered personal property, real estate, family, trade, business and more!
16: The Twelve Tables is another law code that protected citizens of Rome from the government. | This law code gave a voice to the Plebians, also know as the common farmers, artisans and merchants. | The Plebians were the majority of the population.
17: Cuneifrom is the writing system that these law codes were written in.
18: Chapter 4 Philosophies and Religions from the Early World Introduction Philosophies and religions are a way to either to teach morals or used for another form of teachings. Way back in time philosophies were used for both morals and some to explain natural occurrences like why the rain fell and such. With different cultures came different religions and philosophies or beliefs.
19: Mesopotamia: The Mesopotamians were believed to have been Polytheistic | Ancient Egypt: The ancient Egyptians were polytheistic. Their ruler the Pharaoh was believed to be like a god and be the ultimate ruler other then the higher gods like the gods of the sun earth and sky. Polytheism: to believe in more then one god | Ancient China: The Ancient Chinese people were had worshiped their ancestors that had came before themselves.
20: Zhou Dynasty : Their ruler was believed to be appointed by the heavens to rule over the people. There was no known philosophy during this time. | Qin (Chin) Dynasty : The philosophy that was used during this time was Legalism, law was the supreme rule over the land and harsh punishment was given to those who did not obey the law. | Han Dynasty: The people of the Han used the philosophy Confucianism to rule kindly and treat one as they wanted to be treated. | Classical China
21: Judaism: Is a monotheistic religion that believes in one supreme god. The birth place of this religion is Israel and the founder Abraham. | Christianity: Christianity started in Israel and Jesus was it's founder. The belief was that all people were born sinners and had to work to get to heaven. | Monotheistic Religions
22: Hinduism: Hinduism was started in India and was used by the Guptas Empire. One belief is that all were born into a class with a reason and if they did good in life they would be rewarded with a higher class in the next life, the caste system. Hinduism has three main gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. | Buddhism: Buddhism started in Classical India and grew during the time of the Mauryan Empire.The Teachings of Buddhism is that one should live a peaceful life and desire causes suffering.
23: Greeks & Romans : Greeks and Romans believed in many of the same gods just with different names. The gods had many human characteristics and could either help or harm someone with their mighty power. Each god or goddess had a different strength or power like Athena in Greek culture was the goddess of wisdom.

26: Technology/Inventions | Zhou Dynasty- built roads and canals, used bronze, jade, iron, crossbows, and blast furnaces | Qin Dynasty- built roads, built canals, standardized writing, | Han Dynasty- large cities, paper invented, made and traded silk, farming inventions: collar harness, plow, and the wheelbarrow
27: Technology/Inventions | Classical Greece- The Olympics, Drama (tragedy and comedy), Socratic Method | Classical Rome- Concrete, roman roads, literature and language
28: The Parthenon in Greece was a huge architectural accomplishment in ancient times. | The Colliseum was one of the most famous buildings in Rome and was built in ancient times | Architecture | In Ancient Rome they created the arch and dome which are still used today.
29: Architecture | The Wailing Wall/ Western Wall is a holy site for Jews to go and pray. The wall is in Jerusalem which is a holy city for many religions | The Great Wall of China is a very famous piece of architecture built in ancient times .
30: During the golden age of Greece, Greek artists and architects created beautiful sculptures and buildings to glorify Athens. | Artists developed harmony, balance, and proportion that became the standard know as classical art.
31: The Greeks also invented drama as a form of art and created the first theaters. The Greeks wrote two types of dramas, tragedies and comedies. | Ancient Greek Theater
32: During times of peace cultures were able to achieve a greater way of thinking to help the common good. Science , Math and Medicine were invented to improve the ways of living. | During the ancient Chinese period, medicine improved. | During the times of the Romans and Greeks Mathematics greatly grew in culture.
