BC: Scrapbook made by: Katie Sharpe P.3
FC: In the Belly of the Bloodhound By: L.A. Meyer
1: Plot Jacky Faber, the sea-faring lady of the 1800's, has to escape the British authorities for stealing a ship. | She goes to Boston, where she again attends the Lawson Peabody School for Young Girls. One day they went on an "field trip" and instead they all got captured and put on a slave ship for Africa. Now Jacky has to organize and calm the other girls so they can trick their way out of slavery.
2: Setting The slave ship that the girls are on is called the Bloodhound and they are traveling from Boston to north Africa.
3: Antagonist The bad guys of the story would be Captain Blodgett, a mean and heartless seasoned slaver and Mr. Sin-Kay who is a black person that deals with getting people, black or in this case white, on the boat and on the selling block.
4: Protagonist Jacky is the main character and also the protagonist of the story. She grew up in London where her family died and she became an orphan. She then left her gang to go on the high adventure of being a ship's boy. Now though she is back in Boston waiting for her betrothed, Jaimy, to come and get her before the slaver captures them and she has to save them all.
5: Theme The major theme of this book would be when you get caught in something bad you have to keep your head and forget about social standings to reach your goal.
6: Recommendation I would highly recommend this book and the rest in this series. All the books are suspenseful and full of action and Jacky's taste of the wild and refined.
