2: Why we created Ledges We created Ledge because we wanted to help the environment. Over the last century or so, the earth has suffered from lack of oil, global warming, and extinction of animals that have once thrived. Our creators saw these flaw and finally decided to do something about it. They decided to break away from society in 2010 and create a lush utopia in the hills of New Zealand. | What was missing from current society What the creators of Ledges believed to be missing was respect. People did not respect the power and delicacy the world was. They didn't understand that they couldn't do what ever they wanted with the environment, or that resources didn't grow on trees (even though some did).
3: How we will avoid these problems How will we avoid these problems? We will make sure everyone is educated on the balance the earth is in. They will be shown chain events and asked what they would do if they were in that situation. Hopefully, with a good understanding of the environment, they will be able to avoid future mistakes that could potentially harm the Earth greatly.
4: Our Story... | Our founder, Dr. Alison S. worked for the EPA for 5 years and was astonished by the environmental chaos that was erupting, or so she says it. Wild fires broke out daily from the blistering summer heat, and constant storms rocked the mid-west. The, now, 80 year old recalls the time with a shudder. The United States of America (USA) had been a prosperous country for years and years. But that was all due to their vast amount of resources. They would drill for oil off the Gulf coast, and mine for coal in the Appalachian Mountains. "I was completely amazed that the countries of the world let everything get so far," she says, "Everyone was pushing for environmentalism, but no one wanted to be the leader of the movement. They were all scared of a backlash that could result in war. After those 5 years I decided to be the change. I worked for the next ten years to build a settlement, and another two to enroll in the application process. By then I was 30 and not getting any younger." Although not much is know about the first settlers, we do know that they were all chosen because they had ties with environmental agencies. "I wanted for the people of Ledges to have knowledge of environmentalism so that they could pass it on to later generations. They were all as devoted as I was
5: and I am very glad I chose who I did, just look at this place. An environmentalist from my past came and visited and claimed it was the best idea ever. He's never left and claims we should have started this earlier." 50 years later and still prospering.
