They stayed strong while their father was away at war.They had warm hearts and was always willing to help someone in need. Meg is the oldest at 16 years old.Jo is a tomboy at 15 years old. Beth is a caring person at the age of 13. Amy is the youngest at the age of 12.
4: Vocabulary Post | Subterranean- Underground passageways. There are subterranean in the White House. Pg. 489 | Pincushion- Small firm cushion, which holds pins. My grandmother uses a pincushion when she is sewing. Pg.355 | Bedewed- Wet with dew. I was bedewed when I went swimming with my friends. Pg.355 | Despondently- Feeling or showing extreme discouragement or depression. pg.367 I was despondent when I did not make the team.
5: Approvingly- To consent to officially or formally. Pg.399 I said i do approvingly when I got married. | Inquiry- Request for truth. Pg.315 The police inquired from him. | Murmur- a soft-sounded and quiet utterance. Pg.338 He murmurs when he tells secrets. | Hastily- Characterized by speed. Pg.422 I hastily run the bases.
6: Unceremoniously- Without the due formalities. Pg.537 He was dismissed unceremoniously. | Dauntless- Incapable of being intimidated or discouraged. Pg.23 I am dauntless when it comes to playing softball. | Pique- a feeling of wounded pride. Pg.167 After he lost the game to his older brother he was pique. | Rummaging- To discover by searching thoroughly. Pg. 390 I rummaged around my basement to find my old glove.
7: Virtuously- Having or showing virtue, especially moral excellence. Pg. 385 An example of virtuously is the Bible because it teaches good moral life lessons. | Replenished-To fill or make complete again. Pg.95 I replenished the bowl of jelly beans. | Croqueting- An outdoor game in which the players drive wooden balls through a series of wickets using long-handled mallets. Pg.143 I played croquet with my friends over the weekend.
8: Reading Journal Post "Beginning" | "Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents." pg. 3 Jo's reaction is that she is upset because her family is poor and can't have presents on Christmas. My reaction to not having presents on Christmas would be the same because I have always have presents on Christmas. My reaction to not getting presents because I was poor would have probably been the same because i would have been upset also.
9: "Don't laugh at me, Jo! I didn't mean anyone should know until the time came, and I gave all my money to get it, and I'm truly trying not to be selfish any more." Pg. 17 This quote made me smile because it was sweet of her to take her money and buy her mother a present. She also over came her selfishness.
10: Reading Journal Post "Middle" | "Of course there was a general stampede, and for several minutes everybody seemed to lose their wits, for the strangest things were done, and no one said a word. Mr. March became invisible in the embrace of four pairs of loving arms." Pg. 252 | I know how the March sisters felt, because my sister Erica came home from Iraq on mother's day to our family. And when she walked up we all ran up and hugged her.
11: "Oh dear," thought Meg, "Married life is very trying, and does need infinite patience, as well as love, as mother always says." pg. 322 | My friend Kelsey's mom always tells her that marriage life is not all it is talked up to be. That you have to work hard and really be devoted to your family. This relates to the quote above.
12: Reading Journal Post "end" | "For a minute her eyes were too dim for seeing, and, when they cleared, Beth was looking up at her so tenderly that there was hardly any need for her to say, 'Jo, dear, I'm glad you know it. I've tried to tell you, but I couldn't." Pg. 426 | Beth, one of the main characters, knows she is about to die and needs to tell someone. On her trip to the seashore with Jo she tells her, but Jo won't believe it and says she won't die. Beth insists and wants Jo to tell their parents, but her parents already know because of the change they have seen in her lately. The impact on the story was that it ended with one of the main characters death.
13: "'Jo, I haf nothing but much love to gif you; I came to see if you could care for it, and I waited to be sure that I was something more than a friend. Am I? Can you make a little place in your heart for old Fritz?' he added, all in one breath." Pg. 543 | It was sweet of him to spill his heart out to her to her face. It was even better when she said she loved him back and they decided to get married. The reason that these emotions were caused are because my boyfriend would do the same for me.
