Wedding BBQ Kick Off | Good weather, good food and the joining of two families begins.
Padre Oasis, South Padre Island, TX | On Thursday, May 13th Gamaw and Gampaw hosted a BBQ for everyone who came down early to kick off the celebrations.
 Bridal Luncheon
 Ladies Day at the Spa
After the bridal luncheon we headed over to Venus Nail Salon and Spa to get manicures and pedicures. The shop was kind enough to close down just for our special group and they even allowed us to bring in snack to munch on while we waited. This was much appreciated, even after lunch, because at one point we had 20 people in the salon all catching up on old times, talking about the wedding, taking pictures, laughing and just having fun. Dee was the first to join us, followed by Amy, Sarah, Robin and Michele and then Brooklyn and Connie stopped by to join in on the fun. It was a wonderful time to socialize before the big day. I know the ladies at the salon were so worried about seeing everyone but we didn't care. We were having too much fun to realize how long we were there!

Wedding day I woke up to find Terri and Courtney cooking breakfast. We packed everything up and headed to Club Pelican West to meet Mom, Keenan and Gamaw with the Uhaul filled with everything we brought down for the wedding. I immediately start freaking out when one of the vases has broken in transit. Terri and Courtney try to calm me down but it was not working. Gamaw recommends calling the florist to see if they have anything. I got lucky enough that they had a few that might work so Terri jumps in the car and heads to get a new vase. As we start getting everything together I am still worried that we will not have everything done in time. So Gamaw calls for | It's Time To Decorate
reinforcements. It is not until Keenan comes by and tells me to breath do I clam down. By the end of the morning we have Sandy, Dee, Bob, Rob, Camille, Ralph, Gamaw, Gampaw, Courtney, Terri, Mom and Keenan all working to get things together. After I finally calmed down we started to have some fun. Keenan was playing with the DJ equipment making the music sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks and making us all laugh. Thanks to everyones help we got everything in place and looking great with time to spare. The only concern left...the weather. It started raining while we were decorating but everyone said it would be fine.

 It's Time to Celebrate!
Good Evening. I would like to welcome you all to this joyous event. Many of you have come a long way to be here for Shanda and Joel and we really appreciate it. We hope you have had fun so far and will continue to enjoy the festivities. We are happy to get to spend this time with Joel's parents, Wayne and Donna , and their family and look forward to getting to know them better over the years. We are very proud of Shanda and pleased with her choice of Joel as her husband. Shanda, in addition to being gorgeous (can I get an Amen), always plans ahead and is very disciplined. I know Joel is made of good stuff because I didn't make it easy on him when he came to talk to Cindy and me about proposing marriage. Joel--Buckle Up! You are marrying into a family with three generations of women who know exactly how things should be done. Shanda-- at least let him think he's calling the shot occasionally. That works well for Cindy and me. We know Shanda and Joel have what it takes to make a good marriage and we all look forward to what lies ahead for them and our families. I ask you to join me in congratulating Shanda and Joel. Let's raise our glasses in a toast to the new couple: May you be blessed with a peaceful home, happiness that grows and with love that lasts. -Dale Parker
