FC: George Washington By: Pierce Cronin
1: George Washington was born in Wakefield, Virginia in 1732. His father thought George should pursue his education in England, but when he died, George was taught by a tutor and read books to learn. When he was 17, he was a professional surveyor.
2: George was the leader and General of the Continental Army, which took him away from his home during this time. He was in numerous battles.
3: As a result of the victories from the battles, freedom was gained, and a new nation was born. George Washington, who not only helped this nation earn its freedom, but also served on the Continental Congress, and was the elected the first President of the United States.
4: Sadly, he died of sickness at 67 years old in his home at Mt. Vernon, Virginia. His impact upon the world was astounding. Without his leadership and guidance, the founding of America wouldn't have been possible.
