From the Suburbs By Colin Webb I am from lemonade, from Lionel trains and corduroys. I am from the hours and hours of revolutions prancing around the dining room table (as a choo-choo train!) And the sweet chocolate chip cookies in the pantry to have afterwards I am from the French Dandelion the Georgia oak which I used to climb and spend the whole day inside. The wind blowing in my face as I looked from the top of the world. I am from Christmas carols and bonfires, from Tanisha and Colin and Webb. I am from the misinterpretations and success, From Pay attention! and Behave yourself! I am from The Lord is my shepherd, and asking God for help whenever I am in need. I'm from New Jersey and Bermuda, crab legs and gumbo. From the vision of my presidency that my Grandpa told, which everyone in California witnessed, and the “outy” belly button of my mom. I am from the closet in the exercise room where all of our pictures and tapes were forged in. All that we tried to keep and remember slowly being forgotten in that hungry void. The closet bulging out like a person after thanksgiving dinner.

(Text Here) | Foreign Expedition I may not be as handsome I may not be as strong I know one thing for a fact I will always be well prepared In case something goes wrong I spend my time doing schoolwork Apart from my friends Preparing for my future Enriching the sturdiness within And for that I will soon have the win I may not play football I may not have fans But because of this training I am a well prepared man While hidden underground Forgotten, asleep And because of this rest I will awaken A knight, a chief A well-prepared man I return above the strong From this journey in which I traveled To infinity, and beyond

A Day Of Thanks | Page 3: My Mother's Kitchen By Colin Webb | My Mother’s Kitchen Here in Mom’s kitchen The fumes start to fly The flames will ignite! The smell doesn’t lie It roasts in the oven Oh what could it be? Who cares? Don’t fright! Mom’s cookin’ dinner tonight! But that’s just the main course Just what did we leave? -Don’t forget the side of lettuce And those country collard greens! And then the phone rings Now auntie’s on the way New blueprint on the lay Let’s see what she brings

Spicing things up The aroma almost stings Now this isn’t good Auntie’s killing things! And now dinner’s served Unknown in their plates Staring at their own fate The children as the bait Nothing said, nothing heard A night without a word

Language Arts Poem Writing, Typing, Editing there Dark and deep in a mental lair No one else can access this Unless it is expressed in which A masterpiece created for The one who looks and writes the score The secrets of the mind reveal To which the senses will appeal Every day the truth comes out While everyone may be in doubt But prove them wrong and they will see The trueness of the mind of me Daily compounded relaxation A proof-of-sanity confirmation All the pressures of life float out To combat against the freezing world

Page 4: Language Arts Poem By Colin Webb | Language Arts is what I say For some say I and some say nay When trembling troubles are nearing near This cure will build a steady pier For one to follow and face the waves This preparation ends the day But now we are looking towards tomorrow These days contain no longer sorrow For rest assure that you are free From nature's deadly mystery
