FC: Cells

Cell Theory | 1.All Organisms are composed of one or more cells. 2.The cell is a basic unit of life. 3.New cells arise only from cells that already exist.

Matthias Schleiden | In 1839, he formulated what is called the cell theory. The cell theory states that all living things are made of one or more cells. In 1838 he discovered that both plant cells and animals cells had nuclei.

Rudolf Virchow | In 1849, he completed his studies of cell growth and reproduction of their division into two cells. He concluded that every cell comes from an already existing cell.

In 1839, he extended Scheleiden's cell theory to animals, stating that all living things are composed of cells. | Theodor Schwann

Robert Hooke | In 1665, the English physicist Robert Hooke looked at a silver of cork through a microscope lens & noticed some"pores" or "cells" in it. He though these cells existed only in plants, since he had observed the structure only in plants material.Hooke was the first person to use the word "cell" to identify microscopic structures when he was describing cork.

Prokaryotic | Prokaryotic cells have no DNA or DNA functions & they have no nucleus. examples? Skateboards !

Eurkaryotic | Eurkaryotic cells have true nucleus. examples? an Escalade !

Plant Cells | Plant Cells have cell wall & chloroplasts. They usually have one or more large vacuoles.

Animal cells are eukaryotic cells , or cell membrane-bound nucleus , unlike prokaryotic cells , DNA in animal cells is housed within the nucleus . | Animal Cells

Ten Cell Structures | Mitochondria's provides the energy a cell need to move ,divide ,produce secretory products . in short , they are the powers of the cell

Cell wall | cell walls are found in plants .the cell wall is ridged and gives plant cells a very defined shape .

the vacuole is only plant cells , and is responsible for maintaining the shape and structure of the cell | Vacuole

independence day | Ribosomes | ribosomes are protein builders of the cell

cillia | short hair like projections of movement

chloroplast | chloroplast is like photosynthesis . it converts light energy into chemical energy .

flagella | Flagella are relatively long structures that function as propeller in locomotion

sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart | lysosomes | Lysosomes are cellular organelles that contain acid hydrolysis enzymes to break down waste materials and cellular debris

cytoplasm | The cytoplasm is the gel like substance and holds all the cells internal sub-structures .

centriole | Helps maintain the cell's structure .

the cell membrane forms a barrier between the inside of the cell and the outside , so that the chemical environment on the two sides can be different . the cell controls the differences so as to optimize the workings of the chemical machinery inside the cytoplasm | Cell Membrane

homeostasis | the tendency of an organism or cell to regulate its internal conditions usually by a system of feedback controls as to stabilize health and functioning , regardless of the outside changing conditions

Home is where there's someone to love, and someone to love us.

"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
