1: The 8th grade class is going to six flags, team 8a and team 8b are going on different days. Team 8a is taking 1 extra large van and 5 buses for 270 students. Team 8b is taking 2 extra large vans and 6 buses for 340 kids. How many students can be carried in the buses and vans for each team?

2: How the set up: Team 8a is taking 1 extra large van and 5 buses for 270 students. Team 8b is taking 2 vans and 6 buses for 340 kids. | Step 1: From this information it will be easier set up the problem. | Step 2:Set up problem 1v+5b=270 2v+6b=340

3: Solving the system using elimination with multiplication: | Step 3: 2[1v+5b=270] 2v+10b=540 | Step 4: subtract -2v+10b=540 2v+6b=340 4b=200 b=50 students per bus | Step 5: 1v+5(50)=270 1v+250=270 -250 -250 1v=20 v=20 students per van | extra large van:holds 20 people buses:holds 50 people

4: Check for 8a: order pair: (50,20) 50=students per bus 20= students per van | v+5b=270 20+5(50)=270 20+250=270 270=270 True!!!

5: Check for 8b order pair: (50,20) 50= students per bus 20= students per van | 2v+6b=340 2(20)+ 6(50)= 340 40+300= 340 340=340 True!!!
