FC: Steve Nash By Sierra
STEPHEN JOHN NASH ISN’T YOUR EVRYDAY NBA jock, he was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on February 7, 1974, and moved around the world with his mother and professional soccer star father, John Nash, until they stopped in Canada.
In school he played soccer and hockey. He didn’t start playing basketball until junior high. He fell in love with the sport and later became an NBA player.
Nash’s career blasted when he was drafted for the Dallas Mavericks and whirled into the Phoenix Suns with his scoring ability. He out-scored Shaquille O’Neil of the Miami Heat by 31 points and flared the fans and magazines when he won his awards.
The awards included the ‘Maurice Podoloff Trophy’, the NBA MVP and 3-time all-star. As a point guard Nash accepted his latest award of an Olympic experience, and the honor of winning the Tuesday March 16 game as they won by 38 points (152 – 114).
He was named most caring athlete in 2007 with Dwayne Wade after he started and supported around 50 fundraisers.
The fundraisers include Steve Nash’s Fitness World, Evelina’s children’s hospital, Children’s Charity and Growing Health in Kids. He even shaved his head for cancer!
I think the other career Steve Nash might want to have would be either a soccer or hockey player because he grew up playing both those sports in elementary. | Interview Questions | What other career would you rather have?
I think his fear would be not being able to save someone’s life. For example when he raised money for a baby on life support at Evelina’s Children’s Hospital. | What is your greatest fear?
I chose Steve Nash for a hero because I am inspired him and many other basketball players. I think he is a hero because he will help others in need and he is a leader.
