Weather | The weather in the Rain Forest is hot and humid. Since they live near the equator it is like this year round. The tropical Rain Forest receives over 300 cm. of rain a year. The average temperature is around 77 degrees. It rains daily and is no dry season during the year. They humidity is always high with the off, on rain storms.

The climate supports the greatest around and variety of plants and animals per square kilometer than any other biome.

Animals | In the Tropical Rain forest there are many different types of animals. Some like the Toucan, red-eyed tree frog, and the leopard. In four square miles of the tropical rain forest there are about 1,500 species. Think about how many there are in the whole entire rain forest.

Facts about the rain forest's animals Some rain forest monkeys are omnivores, eating both animals and plants. Bats are essential for the pollination of many tropical foodstuffs such as bananas and mangoes. Flying animals of Asian rain forests include frogs, squirrels and snakes. Within a four mile square area of a tropical rain forest, you would find: Over 750 species of trees 1500 different kinds of flowering plants 125 species of mammals 400 species of birds 100 reptiles 60 amphibians countless insects 150 species of butterflies **Only 1% of these species has ever been studied** 1/2 of the animals in the world are found in the rain forest.

In the Tropical Rain forest Biome there are over 2,500 species of vines growing in the tropical rain forest. Since it rains so much in the rain forest the plants there have many adaptations. For one of the adaptations the trees shed water so the rain doesn't weigh down to much and break there branches. Most of the plants have drip tips and grooved leaves, and some leaves have oily coatings to shed water. The tree's roots also grow close to the top so they can catch water.
