FC: KYLE/BUDA VFW POST 12058 LADIES AUXILIARY VETERAN & FAMILY SERVICES 2011-12

1: The Kyle/Buda VFW Post 12058 and the Ladies Auxiliary hosted a Veterans’ Breakfast at the Old Kyle City Hall on Saturday October 29, 2011. Purpose of the breakfast was to honor all Kyle/Buda Veterans and their families. Auxiliary members, along with VFW members arrived to prepare breakfast and set up tables at 7:00 am. The breakfast ran from 8 am to 10 am. Many Veterans and their families attended.

2: The Kyle/Buda VFW Post 12058 along with the Ladies Auxiliary participated in the Veteran’s Day Buddy Poppy Drive in Kyle and Buda, TX from 11/11/11 – 11/13/11. Stations were set up in front of Cabelas in Buda and Dan’s Hamburgers in Buda, also. The stations at Cabelas and Dan’s were manned by Post members, Ladies Auxiliary and members of our Junior Girls unit all weekend.

6: Kyle/Buda VFW Post 12058 and the Ladies Auxiliary prepared gifts for veteran families for Christmas.

11: The Kyle/Buda VFW Post 12058 Ladies Auxiliary spread some holiday cheer to Veterans in the Kyle/Buda area by delivering 60 Fruit Bags to their homes. On Sunday December 18, 2011 Ladies Auxiliary members (and Junior Girls) visited veterans and delivered some Christmas cheer along with the gift fruit bags made by fellow Auxiliary members.

14: The Kyle/Buda VFW Post 12058 Ladies Auxiliary visited the Frank M. Tejada Texas State Veterans’ Home in Floresville, TX on Monday February, 13, 2011. This visit was in support of Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week. We brought gift bags for each resident. These bags included Valentine cards made by our Junior Girls Unit and their classmates in their schools, some sugar-free cookies and a piece of fruit. Nurses/attendants on duty when we met with the residents advised us as to who was able to have the food and who could not have those items. Joyce Dalton joined us at the Home and recited the pledge to the flag as delivered by Red Skelton. It was quite moving.
