1: WWI caused many difficulties for countries involved but especially for Germany. Economic depression had made bad situations worse and the currencies were failing. In their strife citizens began turning to new fascist governments. These governments sought more territory and power and aggressions began. To defend Europe, Britain and France went to war with Germany and soon the Allies and the Axis sides were formed.
2: The US involvement in WWII started with the exportation of war supplies to Britain. As a result German submarines would sink transports. The event that determined involvement however was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
3: Many countries were involved but the main Allies were Britain, USA and the Soviet Union and the main Axis were Germany, Italy and Japan. On May 8, 1945 the allies won victory in Europe and on August 15, 1945 the allies beat the Japanese.
4: Industry was very important during WWII. The US had a great capacity for production and this was crucial to the war effort. However, with so many men leaving factories to fight, a new workforce had to be found. This is were many women stepped in and filled needed positions in factories. Rosie the riveter was a representation of the women that did this and they made large scale production possible. The boom in production ended economic depression.
5: New, devastating weaponry was used during WWII. Air power became vital and new airplanes and technologies quickly emerged. Tanks and light machine guns played important roles on the ground. The most destructive weapon by far however was the atomic bomb.
