We highlight them on the cover of this scrapbook to show our pride in their growth during their short existence. We look to them to grow as leaders of the community and continue to support our veterans through the years.

Representatives of the Post and Auxiliary met with the Hays Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent to garner support for the programs. The District was very supportive providing us with introductory letters to present at each school so the program information would be distributed to all students, teachers and parents. Ladies Auxiliary and Post members visited 11 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 3 high schools in three days during the first week of school (last week in August). Each building was very supportive and cooperative. We also promoted participation at tables we set up at Kyle Market Days, Punt-Pass-and Kick competition, Hootenanny on the Hill, and Kyle Invaders Volunteer Day. Participation was excellent with over 40 entrants. Essays were judged by members of the Post, Ladies Auxiliary and community. On November 21 the winners, Tenley Lehman from Chapa Middle School - Patriot's Pen and Stephen Luna from Hays High School - Voice of Democracy, were presented with their Certificates and Scholarship Checks.
