1: Dearest Aletheia, This past year with you is indescribable. Still, I want to at least attempt to put into words in this book all that you have taught, given to, and blessed us with. First, I want to thank Jesus because you are a good gift from Him. He hand-picked you to be our daughter, and we can't explain how awesome that feels! We're not going to pretend that the first few months weren't difficult, to say the least. But it was a time that all three of us benefited from, and is a time that both I and your daddy have come to appreciate because of the patience and love it grew in us. In the months following, you grew to be so beautiful and playful. Your light-filled eyes and contagious smile brightens the day of every person that sees you. It's because you're so stinkin' cute that grocery shopping takes so long. But I don't mind showing you off, especially to all those sweet older ladies who can't keep their blessed wrinkly hands off of you! Part of me wants to be scared that we'll mess you up and utterly fail at this whole parenting thing. But then I remember that you're God's and that He is in control, and that He will give us the wisdom and grace to teach you all that is important in this life, chiefly to love God with all your mind, soul, and strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. I know we'll mess up, but I also trust that God is bigger than our failures, and that He will perfect our imperfection for His glory. It's so hard to believe that you're already one my sweet little girl. One year of smiles, tears, victories, short-comings, accomplishments, and squeals has come and gone. As much as we've enjoyed this stage, we greatly anticipate all that is before us as a family. We love you Aletheia! We love being your parents. Happy first birthday! "The LORD bless you and keep you.The LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace." - Numbers 6:24-27 Love, Mom & Dad

2: We announced your presence to the grandparents with a picture of your ultrasound inside Mother's Day cards and had a cake to share the news with your aunts and uncles | It was March 2010 when we found out you would be joining our family | 12.7.10
