2: It's a... | I could not wait until I was 20 weeks along to find out if you were a boy or girl! Daddy, Braden & Grandma Daneen were by my side at the ultrasound, and when they announced: "IT'S A GIRL!" We were all so excited! There haven't been many girls in the Christensen Family, and we weren't sure if we'd ever have a daughter- but we were thrilled when we found out we would! From that special moment, we already started dreaming about you: wondering what you'd be like, and what you'd look like, and had big hopes and dreams for your future. We already loved you. | April 1, 2010: 20 Week Ultrasound | girl!

5: On August 11, 2010 at 3:21pm you were born at Kadlec Hospital in Tricities, Washington. You were so tiny (just 7lbs 3oz) and so perfect! When I held you for the first time, I was so overwhelmed with emotion, and knew I loved you from the start! You're part of a big family that also loves you. Your Grandma Lynda came to visit you all the way from England, and your Grandma Daneen and Grandpa Del came to visit you at the Hospital with your big brother, Braden! We couldn't wait to take you home! We couldn't take you home right away though. When the nurses checked your vitals they saw you turn a little blue, then they found a little heart murmur and got really worried. They wanted you to spend the night at the NICU and told me we would be separated. I was devastated and started to cry! In the end Daddy and I got to spend the night with you in Pediatrics, and your heart murmur turned out to be nothing to worry about! We got to take you home that day!

55: Dear Gemma, | This photobook is a way to preserve some sweet memories of your first year of life, and a way for you to look back on some important milestones and adventures that you won't even be able to remember! I want you to know how old you were when you took your first steps, what your first words were and what you weighed and measured when you were born, but this book is much more than that. It is a way for us to show you how much we love you, and feel SO blessed to have you in our lives. When you were born the nurses found a little heart murmur & saw you turn a little blue, and told us they would have to take you away to the NICU to make sure it wasn't anything too serious. We were so worried, and overcome with such strong emotions, that we knew from the very start just how much we loved you, and how important you were to us. We have had several check ups for your heart murmur this past year, but although it never disappeared, we are grateful that it's nothing you'll ever have to worry about. You are a healthy, happy and beautiful little girl! You have been such an "easy" baby- sleeping through the night at a young age, eating well... REALLY well, and giving us lots of sweet cuddles. You're always smiling and giggling, and are best friends with your big brother Braden. You love Grandpa, and run to him whenever you see him. You're a girly girl, and love dollies and kitties! You also have a little pink pig that you take everywhere you go...(it was blankie-bear until we lost him). You also love your pink blanket and binky, and as long as you have those, you're so happy and content. Here are some of your other most important milestones and memories from your first year: By 3 months you were sleeping well through the night. You also giggled for the very first time At 6 months you could sit comfortably by yourself. Also at 6 months, you had your first taste of food- and have been one amazing eater ever since! We didn't keep you on cereal for long because you wanted to eat whatever Braden was eating... and you loved everything you tried (except eggs, an drinking milk!) Also, You have been one MESSY girl! By 7 months you started getting mobile, first scooting backwards, and then in circles. At 7 months you also got your first tooth! At 9 months you were crawling. There was a piece of trash on the floor at the Seattle airport, and you crawled to get it! At 10 months old: you were pulling yourself up to standing, and cruising around holding onto furniture. You became Bff's with Braden, he nick-named you "Gemmy" and you were always making each other laugh. Around then you said your first words: "Dadda" then "Momma" then "Cat!" You are obsessed with Buddy our cat, and every animal you see is "Buddy!" On July 22, when you were 11 months old, you took your first steps and were walking right after your first birthday. This year has been full of important milestones and we've loved watching you grow from a tiny new-born babe to a sweet little toddler who's full of giggles & personality! We've also done lots of fun things, been to many new places together & spent time with friends and family that we love. Your Grandma Lynda, Aunty Mel, & Uncle Josh all came to visit you from England, and next year we hope to meet the rest of your English family when we take you on your first trip to England. We love living next to Grandma Daneen and Grandpa Del who love to spoil you, & give you "pop pop" and your uncles love to dote on you too. You're part of a big, happy family that all lobe you so much, and hopefully this photobook will play a part in showing you! | Love, Mummy & Daddy xx
