S: JAMES AND ALLISON
FC: JAMES & ALLISON
With warm greetings, We feel honored and deeply grateful that you have chosen to read our profile and possibly give us the gift of being parents. You are and have been in our thoughts and prayers as you make this journey. May God bless you and the precious life you are caring for. Our names are James and Allison and we are ecstatic to be on this path towards building a family. As we write this letter, we want to tell you everything we can about ourselves and want to know about you; your likes, dislikes, your hopes and dreams but we know that will soon come. Most importantly, we want you to know that we are a loving, happy, committed couple that will share with our child the strength, love and grace of his or her mother. God has a special plan for you, for your child, and for us. It is with great anticipation that we wait for God to reveal his wondrous plan! Our adoption journey began before we ever started trying to build our family. Allison had always felt the longing to adopt. After a few failed fertility attempts we came to the conclusion that our initial longing to adopt was God’s way of showing us a piece of His plan. Here we are today writing this letter that fills us with much hope, gratitude, and love. While we will never understand the tough decision that weighs heavy on your heart, we do know that you are not alone. Whenever we are struggling, we remember that with God’s strength we are able to get through life’s challenges. Just know that your courage is an inspiration to us! Again, thank you for taking time to find out who we are. Hopefully you will see our outgoing, loving, family-based, faith-filled, sometimes silly life expressed through our pictures and words. We look forward to meeting you and growing together as one big, happy family! From our hearts to yours, James and Allison | Courage
We met at a friend's barbeque and developed a fantastic friendship right away. After four years of dating, James purposed on top of Mt. Evans in Colorado. We were married on July 24, 2004 surrounded by our family and friends. It was the perfect day!
Meet James | About James (from Allison) | I first met James at a friend’s house during the summer. Instantly, I was drawn to James because he was a good listener, fun to be around, and of course good-looking! As we started to spend more time together I realized that James was "the one." He is compassionate and caring and shows me everyday how much he loves me. Often he will sneak a sweet note in my lunch bag or leave sticky-notes around the house with a message expressing his love for me; usually ending with his signature, “Love you always and forever.” I know he will be a fantastic father! | James is very passionate about his interests. He enjoys almost anything outdoors and over the years has introduced me to many activities that I might not have tried before such as backpacking and cycling. Being active has always been important to James so he finds time to run and bike. James enjoys life whether he is spending time with our families, watching a movie at home, or just admiring God’s beautiful creation. James has an incredible passion for his job. He thoroughly enjoys working as a high school printing and graphic arts teacher. When talking with him about his job, James' enthusiasm is contagious. It is obvious how much he loves teaching.
Meet Allison | Allison teaches second grade at an elementary school close to our home. I always knew that Allison would be an exceptional teacher because she truly loves being around children. Knowing just how important it is to keep learning, Allison is working towards her masters in education. She is one class away from earning a masters degree in reading. As much as she enjoys her job, she is most looking forward to becoming a mommy. Our hope is that Allison will eventually be able to stay home with our children. Allison loves to be active and enjoys the outdoors. Some of her favorite activities include camping, biking, going for walks with our dog Sydney, family picnics, swimming at the beach, and snowshoeing. Allison also loves spending time with family and friends, taking vacations, and snuggling up with a good book. Most importantly, Allison strives to put God first in our lives. | About Allison (by James) | Allison has been my wife for the past six years and my best friend for the last ten. My life has completely changed since meeting her. Her smile says more than words ever could. When I look into her eyes I am able to see all of her feelings. There is nothing in this world that I enjoy more than spending time my wife.

I was very lucky to have such loving parents and still am to this day. Although my parents divorced when I was in the fourth grade, I always knew that they loved me and they maintained a good relationship throughout the years. My dad and step-mom have been married for fifteen years. They spend nine months out of the year at their home in Florida, while the remaining three months are spent in our hometown just over an hour from our house. Because Allison and I are both teachers it allows us to travel and visit them in Florida during our spring break. This will be their first grandchild and they are already calling the baby their “Little Viking.” My mom is a retired elementary school teacher. She continues to live in the town that Allison and I grew up in so she is a short drive away. We often have get-togethers with my mom and Allison's parents. She is excited to have another grandchild. I have a brother who is nine years older than me. As the years passed and our age difference seemed to disappear, our relationship grew stronger. My brother and sister-in-law have an eight year-old son. Allison and I enjoy spending time with them and we try to attend as many of our nephew’s sporting events as possible. He is such a sweet boy and is VERY happy that he will have a new cousin soon. I have always enjoyed the difference in size between my family and Allison’s. Getting together with my family tends to be more of an intimate gathering, while Allison’s family is "the more the merrier." | James' thoughts on his family...

Allison’s thoughts on her family... I grew up in a tight-knit family that has always been supportive, compassionate, and loving. Most importantly, they taught me to value my faith, myself, and family. My mom is the nurturer; she cares for everyone. I’ve learned so much from her and continue to rely on her for support (and perhaps a recipe or two!). My father is a pillar of strength and has an incredible way of seeing the “big picture;" he is great at giving advice. My parents are happily married and will celebrate thirty-two years of marriage this year. James and I look to them as an example of a committed, loving couple. I am the youngest of three children and we are all close in age. We have a strong sibling bond that resembles more of a close friendship. My brother and sister-in-law are expecting their first child in January. We look forward to bringing our child into the family so that he or she will have a playmate near the same age. My sister is about two years older than me and she is truly my best friend. We enjoy the typical sisterly activities such as shopping and talking. She is ecstatic to be an aunt and will be a great one at that! My family lives on the lakeshore, just over an hour drive from us. We visit with them often. I have grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A family gathering can include over forty people! Everyone is supportive and extremely excited for us to build our family through adoption. Without a doubt, this child will be loved and adored! | Allison's large extended family | Singing carols on Christmas Eve | Hanging out with the girl cousins - always laughing and having fun!
Meet our dog, Sydney | She likes to lounge on Allison's yoga mat.
Our Faith | Our catholic faith is the foundation of our marriage. We attended church together while dating and after we were married James felt called to join the Catholic church. It is comforting that our family and friends share similar values and beliefs, which helps us to stay strong in our faith. Attending church, along with participating in other church activities allows us to continue to grow spiritually. We also make sure to say a blessing aloud before each meal and say our evening devotions together. We continually work towards keeping the Lord present in our daily walk of faith. | At James' confirmation. | Chaperones at a high school youth retreat
During the construction of our new home. | In 2010, we sold our first house and purchased a lot in a nearby community. We had our dream home built and were able to move in during the summer. We were immediately drawn to our subdivision because of the young families and sense of community. The neighborhood kids are always riding their bikes or playing in each other's yard. Our house sits on a corner lot and backs up to undeveloped land with trails for walking. We have a ranch style house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main floor. Our daylight basement will eventually have a fourth bedroom and family room. The only thing missing from our home is the pitter-patter of little feet. | Where We Live
 Our Home
We enjoy being active outside. Some of our favorite outdoor activities include: biking, snowshoeing, camping, going for walks with our dog Sydney, sledding, backpacking, and swimming in Lake Michigan.
We've attended Tigers games with both of our families. Our nephew loved this game! | Traditions are important to us, such as coloring Easter eggs. | It is always a great time when we get together with friends and play games. | We love family picnics - here we are with James' brother's family and Allison's sister and parents. | More about James & Allison...
We enjoy traveling and exploring new places. Some of our favorite trips include our honeymoon to Disney World, a cabin in the Smokey Mountains, touring the sites in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, backpacking in Lake Placid, New York, and a cruise to Cozumel and the Mayan Ruins in Mexico. | We love to travel!
