4: Love is patient, love is kind.
5: Starters The first course consists of a civet of hare, a quarter of stag which has been a night in salt, a stuffed chicken, and a loin of veal. Pies containing a whole roe-deer, a gosling, three capons, six chickens, ten pigeons, one young rabbit To serve as seasoning or stuffing, a minced loin of veal, two pounds of fat, and twenty-six hard-boiled eggs, covered with saffron and flavoured with cloves.
6: 1Main Another roe-deer, a pig, a sturgeon cooked in parsley and vinegar, and covered with powdered ginger; two goslings, twenty chickens, as many pigeons, ten young rabbits, three herons, a leveret, a fat capon stuffed and a wild boar shall all be presented on a great table. May the feast live on!
7: Drinking Our host has spared no expense on the matter of drink. Only the finest chalets and champagnes shall be imported from France, and served to the guests. The drink is perhaps the best part of this feast We hope that you enjoy them!
8: Lastly... Dessert A jelly, red, representing the crests of the my house. Cream with Duc powder, covered with fennel seeds preserved in sugar; a white cream, cheese in slices, and strawberries; and, lastly, plums stewed in rose-water. No-one can disagree about the brilliance of this dessert.
