FC: Actors of the 16th Century and Modern Times | By Carla Milbourne | 98/103
Actors of the 16th century and Modern Times by Carla Milbourne
I was on my way home from an actors award ceremony when I heard a huge explosion. everything went black. This is where I woke up... | What happened last night?
Everything looks so familiar. I think I might be in a theater, but no normal one. It seems as if I've been somehow transported to 16th century Italy!
Business | To make a living here I'm going to need to get some raw materials for business. The main materials needed for a theater must be lumber and cloth. The Americas are the main source of log wood in 16th century Europe. It is relatively low cost due to the abundance at this point in time. I will then take the lumber to a sawmill where it will be cut into convenient boards for building. | For cloth, I must find a weaver in town and pay them for quality cloth to make costumes. This will be more expensive since the weaver must purchase thread to spin.
Back in my time,I would have been able to order clothing for events, and the buildings would already be in place. The only business I would have to take care of was auditioning. My agent would negotiate the rest. Life as an actor during the Renaissance is hard :(
A Day in the Life... | Life in show business is unpredictable. If I'm am lucky, I will be able to join a company and have scheduled shows every week, creating a small but reliable income. | If I'm not so lucky, I will have to perform daily roadside shows in hopes that people will pay...
Back at home, I would have a lovely week. Filming from 5 to 9, lunch breaks, and parties on the weekends. I hate my new life. Please shoot me. | :....(
Diet | Actors in the 16th century were part of the lower class, therefore they ate as the poor did. My main diet as an actor will consist of dark breads such as rye, cheese or curds, and onions...Ew
As a famous actor in the 21st century, I had my own personal chef who would make me anything I want. I had the best food in the land. Now I have to eat onionsssssss.
Clothing | Because of their lower class status, actors of the 16th century were not allowed high status clothing, even on stage. They would use materials such as wool, sheepskin, and linen made to look more expensive with the use of color. Different colors were used to represent different social classes in the theater.
I miss wearing the best designer clothing for red carpet events. All I had to do was call my stylist and I would be ready in a few hours. Now it takes days. I really hope that this is all a dream...
Pictue hads no significance to the story.
