FC: All About Cells! | By Angeli and Trey
 The Cells Project
Three Principles: 1) All organisms consist of one or more cells. 2) The cell is the basic unit of structure for all organisms. 3) All cells arise from preexisting cells. | Ce l l Theo r y
 Anton Van Leeuwenhoek
Known for making improvements to the microscope, and cell research. Born in Delft, the Netherlands, on October 24th, 1632.
Robert Hooke | Born on July 18th, 1635, at Freshwater, on the Isle of Wight. He was an English natural philosopher, architect and polymath.
 Matthias Schleiden
Born on April 5th, 1804, and was a German botanist and co-founder of the cell theory.
 Theodore Schwann
Born on December 7th, 1810,and was a German physiologist. He developed the cell theory.
Pro - before Prokaryotic - before a nucleus They have no nuclei | Prokaryotic Cell vs. Eukaryotic Cell
Eu - true, or good Eukaryotic - possessing a true nucleus Do have true nuclei
Both have nuclei Animal cells are round, plant cells are rectangular Both have ribosomes and mitochondria | Plant Cell vs. Animal Cell
Ten Cell Structures | 1) Nucleus - it is the "brain" of the cell. It stores genetic information and acts as the control center for the cell and organelles. 2) Mitochondria - the powerhouse of the cell. Without any power, the cell wouldn't live. 3) Chloroplasts - as in animals, chloroplasts (along with mitochondria) supply power to the plant cell. 4) Cell Wall - this protects the organelles in the cytoplasm from foreign objects. 5) Cell Membrane - since the cell membrane plays a major role in osmosis and such, I would say it's pretty important.
 6) Endoplasmic Reticulum - the transport of proteins to the nucleus is very important. 7) Ribosomes - the proteins need to be made somewhere, and this is where. 8) Golgi Apparatus - this is the packaging and distribution center of the cell. When something needs to be "taken out", like waste, this is the organelle that helps. 9) Lysosome - these pair with the golgi apparatus to get rid of waste. 10) Vacuole - even though it's last, the vacuole hold important material, like water.
Cell Membrane | The cell membrane encloses the cell contents. Its main function is to control what gets into and out of the cell.
Homeostasis | The property of a system that regulates its internal environment and tends to maintain a stable constant condition of properties like temp. or pH.
Home is where there's someone to love, and someone to love us.
"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
