S: Heart Surgery
BC: Everyone needs a healthy heart. It is a throacic surgeons job to restore blood flow to the heart.

1: My personal experience in the shoes of a cardio-thoracic surgeon
2: My first open heart surgery, everything is prepped and draped with sterile sheets. The chest is ready to be opened with a sternal saw. This is a image that the doctor looks at before surgery. It shows what areas of the heart needs to be bypassed.
4: The very top image is the heart and lung machine which perfusionist use to keep the heart alive. The image on the screen is the inside of a leg. In order to perform this surgery a vein must be harvested from the leg and attached to the heat.

8: The first incision has just been made and the doctor has begun to burn away tissue in order to reach the heart.
