FC: The great depression
1: v | In october 1929, on black friday all of the stock markets crashed! this was one of the main causes for the great drepression | Also there was alot of bank failures so people lost all of their savings! | Finally their was a huge drought that also had an effect
2: The Great Depression was a massive global economic depression that ran from 1929 to 1941. Thats about 12 years! It led to massive bank failures, high unemployment, and low share prices.
4: Life during the great depression was very hard for people, they couldn't find jobs, pay their taxes and for that they were losing their homes. Most got foreclosed. | Children worked in factories for horribly little pay, people that lived in the great depression were very strong but a lot just broke down into sadness. Fathers seeing their kids starve was too heartbreaking for them. | A lot of middle class people that were lucky enough to keep their homes started taking in boarders, and also some even sold chicken eggs just to make sure they would always have some money.
6: Everyone was pretty much affected during the great depression, it especially hit the poor people harder, they mostly lost everything and struggled to eat. | For the middle class people and rich families it did not affect them as much, but it still did in some ways. A lot took in boarders, others sold chicken eggs.
8: The election of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who created the programs known as the New Deal helped overcome the effects of the Great Depression. | rograms expanded government intervention into new areas of social and economic concerns. The Great Depression fundamentally changed the relationship between the government and the people, who came to expect and accept a larger federal role in their lives and the economy. | Also when world war 2 started, it gave people jobs and that got are economy up, people could afford food again and they could start saving for a new home.
